• Any residential area the speed limit is 20mph (unless otherwise posted).

• 8th Ave E, 8th Ave W and Chestnut St the speed limit is 25mph (unless otherwise posted).

• SD Hwy 10, through town, the speed limit is 35mph and 45mph east of NAPA Auto.

The Sisseton Police Department recently hosted and instructed an ALERRT Level 1 Active Shooter Response training at Sisseton Middle School. This important training brought together multiple agencies to strengthen our coordinated response and enhance public safety in our community.

Participating agencies included the Sisseton Police Department, Roberts County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Police, and Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the FBI for their assistance in instructing this training and helping ensure our officers are equipped with the most current tactics and best practices. We would also like to thank the Sisseton Wahpeton Office of Emergency Management for their assistance with role players for the training.

Training like this is critical to ensuring that, if the unthinkable happens, our agencies can respond quickly, effectively, and together.

We appreciate the continued support of our community as we work to keep Sisseton safe.

Tonight, the Sisseton Police Department hosted a Law Enforcement Child Appreciation Event.

While our officers proudly wear the badge, their children quietly make sacrifices of their own. They miss birthdays, holidays, family dinners, and often carry the worry that comes with having a parent in law enforcement. Their strength, patience, and support help make it possible for our officers to serve this community each day.

This evening, we recognized those incredible children by presenting them with certificates of appreciation as a small token of our gratitude. Although a certificate can never fully capture everything they give up, we hope each of you know how valued and appreciated you truly are.

Thank you to all of our law enforcement families for the sacrifices you make every day. To our officers' children: your courage, resilience, and unwavering support do not go unnoticed. We are proud of you, and tonight was all about celebrating you. 💙

ATTEMPT TO LOCATE / COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE REQUEST

We are asking for the public's assistance in locating Marty Lynn Harman, a 54-year-old Native American female and resident of Sisseton.

Description:
• 5'5"
• Approximately 200 pounds

Marty has not been in contact with her family for approximately two weeks, which is out of character and has prompted concern for her well-being.

Marty is known to be part of the homeless population in our area and has been reported to frequently sleep outdoors or in unusual or secluded locations. At this time, we are simply trying to locate her and confirm that she is safe.

If you have seen Marty at any time during the past two weeks, or have any information regarding where she may be staying or was last observed, please contact the Roberts County Dispatch. Even information that may seem minor could be helpful in establishing a timeline or identifying areas for law enforcement to search.

Our hope is that Marty is safe and will be located soon. Until her well-being can be confirmed, law enforcement agencies will continue efforts to locate her.

City of Sisseton Ordinance 9.04.060 states:

It is unlawful for any person to discharge fireworks within the City of Sisseton as well as one mile of the boundaries of the city.

Any violation of this ordinance is $200.00 fine.
