Night #1 of Haunted Ship is closed! Thank you to everyone who came tonight. We will be open again tomorrow, November 2nd, from 6-9:30pm. Tomorrow is geared more towards teenagers and adults. Please wear closed toed shoes. All bags will have to be checked before coming onboard the ship. We will also be selling glow in the dark Haunted Ship stickers for $5 a piece (cash or Venmo)! All proceeds go to KUKUI’s morale fund. We look forward to seeing you there! 🎃👻🏴‍☠️

📣‼️Reminder that KUKUI will be hosting Haunted Ship on Friday, November 1st, and Saturday, November 2nd. Gates open at 6 pm and close at 9:30 pm. November 1st is more family friendly. November 2nd is geared towards older teenagers and adults. Please wear closed toes shoes and remember that KUKUI is a working ship. All bags will have to be checked before entering the Haunted Ship. We look forward to seeing you all there, and prepare to be scared! 🎃👻

Last week, KUKUI visited the Sitka Historical Museum for an Eight Bells Event, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Cutterman Insignia and honoring the traditions and history of sea service. We were fortunate enough to have the Executive Director of the Museum with us to teach the crew about the history of the Revenue Cutter Service and the Coast Guard in Alaska. Our Senior Cutterman, boasting 11 years of sea time, struck Eight Bells at noon to wrap up the event. Thank you to our crew and the Museum Staff for a wonderful morning! 🔔🛟

The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter KUKUI invites you to the annual Haunted Ship event. The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter KUKUI will host a Haunted Ship on Friday November 1st and Saturday November 2nd from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 1480 Seward Avenue. The gates for the event will close at 9:30 p.m.

Admission is free with a suggested donation of non-perishable food items to support local charities. November 1st will feature content suitable for younger children. November 2nd will be geared for all ages with content suitable for more mature audiences.

Please note the Haunted Ship may not be appropriate for all ages and parents/guardians should use discretion for younger children. KUKUI is a working ship, the stairwells are steep; flat-sole, close-toed shoes are required.

Bake sale items and light refreshments will be available for cash only purchase from the CG Spouses and Women’s association.

A few weeks ago, KUKUI participated in Buoy Tender Roundup in Juneau! The week was full of training and professional development, networking, and the buoy tender Olympics on Wednesday with events like heat and beat, chain pull, line toss, and tug of war. Our Culinary Specialists also had a busy week of training and competitions! Thank you to all who made this week happen, and a thank you to the crews of ASPEN, ELM, CYPRESS, ELDERBERRY, and HENRY BLAKE for all the fun and competition. KUKUI took home the ‘Show Boat’ award for the second year in a row! BZ and thank you to our team who dedicates so much time to the upkeep of our ship! We look forward to continuing the tradition next year! 🎉🛟🇺🇸⚓️

Happy Coast Guard Day!⚓️🛟🎉 Yesterday the KUKUI team enjoyed a fantastic BBQ to celebrate our great service! Aside from delicious food and many competitive corn hole matches, we enjoyed this time to celebrate the hard work and sacrifices of our fellow Coasties near and far. Thank you to everyone and their loved ones who came out and made this event possible.

Did you know⁉️
On August 4th, 1790, the Revenue Cutter Service was established through the Treasury Department. Through the years, and a few name and department changes, it evolved into what the Coast Guard is today. Since the Navy was disbanded for a time following the Revolutionary War, that makes the Coast Guard the oldest continuous sea-going service!

Thank you to everyone who attended the CGC KUKUI Change of Command ceremony yesterday, both in person and via livestream. CAPT John Cole, D17 Chief of Staff, presided over the ceremony in which LCDR Michael Overstreet relieved LCDR Joshua Branthoover as the Commanding Officer of the KUKUI.

We wish LCDR Branthoover fair winds and following seas in his retirement and extend our thanks for his dedication, support, and leadership during his command of KUKUI. BZ!

Earlier this week, Coast Guard Cutter KUKUI crew members participated in Sitka's Fourth of July parade, marching proudly alongside our community to celebrate the holiday. We hope everyone had a happy and safe Fourth of July!

Recently, the KUKUI crew completed Tailored Ship’s Training Availability (TSTA) with an impressive 97 point average in drills and exercises. The crew of KUKUI showcased exceptional proficiency in responding to a wide range of scenarios, including medical emergencies, engineering casualties, damage control, seamanship, and navigational exercises. One highlight of TSTA was the opportunity to conduct a towing evolution with ANT Sitka.

A huge Bravo Zulu to each member of the KUKUI crew for their hard work and dedication!
