On Sunday, Oct 25th Mrs. Carpenter and a group of PHS students hosted a beach cleanup in collaboration with Port Orford Main Streets “Port Goreford” community event, allowing our students to earn community service hours. Community members were welcome to join and everyone who participated got a Kraken coin.

Caden Green won five coins for getting the most trash in pounds coming in at 45 pounds. Dawsun Larson brought in a GIANT tire and we had 15 participants show up removing 165+ pounds of trash off the beach, including two big tires. Thank you Port Orford Main Street for your support and partnership and everyone who participated in making the beach a cleaner and safer space.

We plan to host another beach cleanup in Spring. 🌸

A heartfelt thank you to all of our community members who took the time to participate in mock interviews with our students. Your willingness to share your time, knowledge, and real-world experiences made this a valuable learning opportunity for our students.
Through your support, students were able to practice their interview skills, build confidence, receive meaningful feedback, and better prepare for future career opportunities. Your encouragement and commitment to their success make a lasting impact.

We are grateful for a community that continues to invest in our students and help prepare them for a bright future. Thank you for being part of their journey and helping them take the next step toward success! Shout out to Sam Ross at Rogue Credit Union, Chris Speed at Neath The Wind Reality, Bret Weidemiller with CFPA, Steve Courtier representing the Port of Port Orford, Brittany Pogwizd and Mr. Epperley with 2CJ school District, and Sonya Billington at Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative. We had 18 students interviewed in two days, here is a fun picture of a few students dressed to impress during interviews.
