The Skaneateles Fire Department is a volunteer organization that protects the Town and Village of Skaneateles NY. The department was formed in 1833 and now has about 100 members and is always looking for more.

On behalf of the entire department and the community we serve, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to the Skaneateles Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. For Monday's monthly, meeting the ladies auxiliary cooked an amazing pasta dinner for the membership. Their hard work behind the scenes is invaluable. The ladies auxiliary do not always get the publicity they deserve. These wonderful women support the fire department and the community in countless ways.Amazing job by everyone!

Today, the Skaneateles Fire Department joins our community in solemn remembrance this Memorial Day.

While our mission is to protect lives here at home, today we honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom. As first responders, we hold the deepest respect for those who put service above self and gave their tomorrows for our todays.

To the Gold Star families who carry the weight of this loss every day: We see you, we honor you, and we will never forget.

As you gather around the lake today, please join us in a moment of silence to remember the true meaning of this day.
