The township was founded in 1702 by Matthias van Bebber who was deeded the land by William Penn. Originally, both Perkiomen and Skippack Townships compromised what was known as "van Bebber Township" (and later "Perkiomen and Skippack Township"). It was not until 1886 that Skippack Township's boundaries were modified to what they are today. According to the United States Census Bureau, Skippack Tow

nship has a total area of 14.0 square miles. The Perkiomen Creek forms its natural western boundary and drains it into the Schuylkill River while the Skippack Creek forms a natural eastern boundary. The smaller villages within the township include Creamery, Lucon and Skippack. Skippack Township is run by an elected five person Board of Supervisors, each of whom serve staggered six year terms. The current supervisors are Chairman Paul Fox, Vice Chair Nick Fountain, Barbara McGinnis, Marian Ellis, and Karen Lynch. Other elected offices include the Tax Collector, Laurie Augustine, the Board of Auditors, Bohdan Marchuk, Phil Wimpenny, and Deborah McCabe and the Constable, Luke Dielsi. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections operates the State Correctional Institution - Phoenix within the township.

📢The Skippack Township Building will be closed on Monday, June 15. Township offices will not be open to the public during this time.

Normal business operations will resume on Tuesday, June 16, with the Township Building reopening at 8:00 a.m.

As the weather is heating up and our parks are getting busier here is a friendly reminder for Skippack Pet Owners 🐾

Leash Requirements 🐕‍🦺
Pennsylvania state and local park regulations require dogs to be physically restrained on a leash, generally six feet or shorter, at all times. Electronic collars and voice commands are not considered acceptable substitutes for a physical leash. Additionally, pets are prohibited from designated animal-free areas, including playgrounds, athletic fields, and ballfields.

Animal Noise Ordinance ‼️
Skippack Township's noise ordinance makes it a violation to own, harbor, or control an animal that creates excessive noise. Specifically, an animal may not make noise continuously or incessantly for 10 minutes or more, or intermittently for 15 minutes or more. This regulation applies at all hours of the day and night and is enforced as a public nuisance ordinance.

☀️ Skippack Township Summer Office Hours ☀️

Please be advised that the Skippack Township Administration Building will begin summer office hours effective immediately.

🕗 Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
🕗 Friday: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM

These hours will remain in effect through the Labor Day holiday.

Residents are encouraged to plan visits accordingly. Township staff will continue to be available during these hours to assist with permits, questions, and other township business.

We wish everyone a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer! ☀️

The Skippack Township building will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of the holiday and will reopen Tuesday, May 26 with regular business hours.
