The GOP created a fiscal crisis by giving tax cuts to the ultra-wealthy, and now they want to make devastating cuts to our vital programs.
They never discuss the morality of these cuts. The Affordable Care Act and Social Security are lifesaving programs.
We must keep fighting.
As the holiday shopping season kicks into full gear, we must reign in the excessive power of companies and fully fund the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to improve product safety and better protect consumers.
To report a dangerous product or to check if a product is recalled, go to SaferProducts.gov.
After months of bipartisan work to fix our nation’s broken ticketing industry, my bill with Congressman Gus Bilirakis, the TICKET Act, will be voted on this week!
Fans are frustrated by how hard it is to buy event tickets. This consensus bill makes the ticketing process easier for all.

I'm so glad to be hosting a listening session for Federal Trade Commission(FTC) Chair Lina Khan and Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, to hear from local consumer and small business advocates on the importance of lowering prices and ending junk fees for consumers.
Pleased to be joined by Illinois PIRG, the Woodstock Institute, Small Business Majority, Farm Action, Allies for Community Business, and State Representative Bob Morgan here at the great Oakton College.
This year, the city of Chicago and Cook County launched 2-1-1, a free and easy-to-access helpline.
The phones are answered 24/7 by an operator who is there to listen to your problem and give referrals.
Now, getting assistance from social service agencies is easier than ever!
Meeting with Avery Jenkins
I was so happy to meet with Avery Jenkins, an 8-year-old constituent who is working to put together hair kits with products and tools for highly-textured hair to give to foster children in need. Avery told me that she wants people to feel good about their hair, and feel confident in themselves. I'm so proud of you, Avery, and the difference you are making!
Too many women have received an ‘all clear’ after a mammogram only to discover later that cancer was hidden by their dense breast tissue. Women with dense breasts are 4-5 times more likely to get breast cancer than those without dense breast tissue.
We must strengthen access to additional testing, to ensure that women with dense breasts can know for certain that they are cancer-free. I'm a proud cosponsor of Rosa DeLauro's Find It Early Act to ensure all health insurance plans cover screening and diagnostic breast imaging. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth
Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky will present Neha Gill, Executive Director of Apna Ghar, Inc. (Our Home) with a check for $300,000 for critically needed resources and mental health support for survivors of gender-based violence in Chicago.
After 35 years in operation by Connections for the Homeless, Hilda’s Place (1456 Chicago Ave. Evanston, IL) ceased overnight shelter operations in the Spring of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the pandemic, Evanston and Northern Cook County have seen an increase in homelessness. According to the Alliance to End Homelessness, in Suburban Cook County, there are more than 1,000 individuals that experience homelessness annually and a need for 171 shelter beds in the Northern region of the County.
Roe wasn’t the beginning of women having abortions, it was the end of women dying from abortions.
When #RoevWade was overturned one year ago today, millions of Americans were stripped of their bodily autonomy.
We must pass the Women’s Health Protection Act into law and ensure reproductive freedom for all. #AbortionIsHealthcare
Today, I #WearOrange to honor the lives of those we’ve lost to gun violence.
We are facing a gun violence epidemic. The status quo is unacceptable. No one should have to fear losing their life at school, the grocery store, or anywhere in between. The time to act is now.
Meet Janet from Chicago. She’s on Social Security Disability because she suffers from a chronic mental illness. She wants to work but can’t. Republicans holding our economy hostage puts her only income at risk. There are millions of Janets around the US. Don’t hold Janet hostage!
