What book(s) do you hope to finish before the end of the year?

It's finals week, and the Teen Room is the best place to study or destress. Good luck, everyone, you've got this! 💪🏽

It's often a tradition to reflect on change as the year comes to an end. But what about transformations that are a little less...human?

These books feature humans that physically transform into nonhuman entities.

Some of these changes are comforting, and others are horrifying. Most, though, are undeniably strange.

Access to natural light, the materials we use to furnish a room, the colors we paint our walls--these can all play an often unconscious role in fostering how connected, safe, productive, or rested we feel.

Enjoy these interior design books that inspire and guide you to create places that reflect, inspire, sustain, and even grow with us.

In addition to being closed for certain holidays, we occasionally close the library for staff training and development.

On Friday, December 8, the library will open at 1 pm to allow staff to participate in safety training and drills in the morning.

We had a great time celebrating Carolyn Anthony's decades of service! ❤️

Next time you're in the Business and Community Center on the second floor, check out the plaque of recognition.

Skokie Community Foundation (SCF) Board Member Carolyn Anthony was honored on November 21 to have Skokie Public Library name its Business & Community Center meeting room after her. Library trustees voted to rename this highly-used meeting room to recognize her significant contributions to the Skokie community.

Anthony served as Executive Director of the library for more than 30 years, retiring in 2016. She has been active in key leadership roles nationally and internationally, having served on committees for the American Library Association as well as the International Relations Round Table.

Shown, from left, are: Gene Griffin, Skokie Public Library Board of Trustees President and SCF co-founder and Treasurer; Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen; Anthony; and Skokie Public Library Executive Director Richard Kong. Congratulations on your impressive legacy, Carolyn!
