Beyond the Yellow Ribbon of Brown County

Beyond the Yellow Ribbon of Brown County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is united to bring Servicemembers all the way home. Since 9/11, thousands of Minnesotans have served our country.

A Yellow Ribbon County unites key areas and communities throughout a county to create a comprehensive network that connects and coordinates county-level agencies, organizations, resources and employers for the purpose of proactively supporting Servicemembers and military families. In addition, a Yellow Ribbon County connects and supports Yellow Ribbon Communities to provide military family support

at the local level. By developing a Yellow Ribbon County Network, county communities unite to honor and embrace those affected by military deployments. The outward showing of support enables successful transition all the way home. The county’s effort transcends the military to any group in need and builds stronger, more compassionate communities.

Some news arrives like a sudden storm — unexpected, heavy, and impossible to ignore. Today, many hearts are grieving the loss of four U.S. service members who were killed in a tragic aircraft crash while serving far from home.

In moments like these, the reality of service becomes painfully clear. Behind every uniform was a story — of family dinners missed, of dreams placed on hold, of quiet courage carried into uncertain skies. Their mission was not only about duty, but about protecting others, supporting their fellow service members, and standing watch in places most will never see.

The sound of loss echoes far beyond the crash site. It reaches living rooms, small towns, military bases, and communities where loved ones now face the difficult road of grief. Yet alongside sorrow stands pride — pride in lives lived with purpose, commitment, and honor.

Service often asks for sacrifices that words can barely hold. These fallen heroes gave their time, their strength, and ultimately their lives in the line of duty. Their absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but their legacy will remain in the freedoms they helped defend and the lives they touched along the way.

Today we pause to remember them with gratitude and respect. May comfort surround their families, and may their courage never be forgotten.
