Subject: Important Safety Update: Sleepy Eye Public & St. Mary's Return to Normal Operations Tomorrow

Dear Staff, Parents, Guardians, and Families,

We are writing to share an important safety update following today's precautionary soft lockdown regarding a social media threat made on TikTok.

Investigation Update & Suspect Identification The Sleepy Eye Police Department conducted a swift and thorough investigation today and has successfully identified a suspect responsible for the terroristic threat.

Return to Normal Operations After direct consultation with local law enforcement, both Sleepy Eye Public Schools and St. Mary’s Catholic School will return to normal operations tomorrow.

Lockdown Lifted: The soft lockdown status is completely lifted.

Schedules & Activities: All classes, entry procedures, transportation, and extracurricular activities will run on their standard schedules tomorrow.

We want to extend our sincere gratitude to the Sleepy Eye Police Department for their rapid response, as well as to our dedicated staff, students, and families for your patience, cooperation, and support throughout the day. The safety of our school community remains our top priority.

Sleepy Eye Public Schools & St. Mary's Catholic School - Joint Safety Alert

Out of an abundance of caution, Sleepy Eye Public Schools and St. Mary's Catholic School are entering a Soft Lockdown for the remainder of the day today.

Key Information:

Reason: The Sleepy Eye Police Department notified administration from both school systems of an online TikTok post referencing a threat toward Sleepy Eye students.

Threat Assessment: Police Chief Andres has determined this is a non-credible threat, but we are implementing these safety measures as an extra precaution.

Police Presence: An increased police presence will remain in and around school grounds for the rest of the day.

Campus Status: No visitors will be allowed on campus at either school today.

Evening Activities: All evening school activities, events, and practices for both schools are canceled today.

Student Safety: All students are safe inside their classrooms, and learning activities are continuing indoors under heightened security.

We will share additional updates as necessary. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in keeping our entire school community safe.

Way to Go Tennis Players!

🎾 The 2026 River Valley Wildcats 🎾

We opened the season Thursday with a loss to a tough USC team. The first-match jitters were definitely there, but there were plenty of positives to take away—including a solid performance from our #2 Doubles team of Jazmine Robertson and Reagan Moody, along with a lot of success from our JV lineup.

We’ll learn from it, keep working, and continue to get better every day.

Next up: Worthington Doubles Tournament on Saturday!

What an awesome first day of school! Our students took every single change in stride today and made it a total success!

Here is a look at what made day one so special:
Morning Recess: After breakfast and before classes kicked off, students enjoyed a short, supervised outdoor recess to burn off some morning energy.

Welcome Assembly: We gathered as a school community to officially launch the new year and introduce our new principal, Mrs. Wagelie!

Storm Squads Launch: Every student and staff member was placed into one of four new Storm Squads:

🟡 Rain Storm
🔵 Snow Storm
🟢 Hail Storm

Throughout the year, squads will earn points by living out our school-wide expectations to BE THE STORM:

What a busy and inspiring start to the school year at Sleepy Eye Schools!

Workshop week kicked off in the best way possible—by celebrating our incredible team! We recognized our newest team members alongside dedicated staff marking 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 years of service. A massive, well-deserved congratulations to Kate Nelson for being named Teacher of the Year!

We also want to give two very special shout-outs:

To our community: Thank you to everyone who came out for Open House last night! We had a fantastic turnout and loved seeing all the familiar and new faces.

To the Sleepy Eye Chamber: Thank you so much for treating our team to a wonderful breakfast and making our staff feel so welcomed back!

Welcome Back!
As we gear up for the upcoming Fall Activities Season, we wanted to send out a few news items:
1. Activity Registration – we are using a new platform this year. Follow the directions on the attached flyer. You are able to pay either online through BOUND or we will accept Cash/Check brought in to the High School Office. Fees are listed on the School Website and BOUND.
· Physicals – if you know the dates of their last physical, enter the date in. If
you do not, we can enter it. If recently completed a physical, please either scan
or take a picture to upload into BOUND. We will still collect the physical sheet in
the High School Office.
· ALL students need to be registered and paid by FRIDAY, AUGUST 21st
2. We are going Cashless at the Gate for all Home events – You have the opportunity to pay ahead of time through the BOUND Sports app or use a card at the gate! Many schools in the conference and area are also going this route. Concession Stands will be accepting cash, check or card.
3. Activity Pass – information was sent out in the Back to School Packet. We are no longer doing paper Activity Passes. You can purchase an activity pass through BOUND following this link - https://www.gobound.com/mn/schools/sleepyeye/tickets
· Click Buy Now by Sleepy Eye Storm Activity Pass 2026-2027 - Choose the pass you would like to purchase - Fill in the information - Pay online for your Activity Pass.
· You should see a QR Code under My Passes on the Main Menu on the App. Show the QR Code at all Home Events for the Ticket Taker to scan.
