💃 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a few new dance moves at John Paulding!

Almalin’s Dancers, featuring our middle and high school students, recently visited JP for a celebration of Dominican dance. Kindergarteners and staff even joined in the fun!

Across our schools, students are exploring stories, traditions and cultures from our community and beyond throughout the month.

Almalin’s Dancers, con la participación de nuestros estudiantes de secundaria y preparatoria, visitó recientemente JP para una celebración de la danza dominicana. ¡Los estudiantes de kínder y el personal también se sumaron a la diversión!

Durante todo el mes, los estudiantes de nuestras escuelas están explorando historias, tradiciones y culturas de nuestra comunidad y de otras partes del mundo.

Construction is moving forward at Morse and Washington Irving! Here’s a quick look at the progress:

At WI, the new bleachers are taking shape, with work underway on seating supports, railings, sidewalks and landscaping. The foundation walls for the building addition are also complete.

At Morse, kitchen and cafeteria renovations continue after school hours, while crews prepare other areas for updates and work on walls, insulation, plumbing and electrical systems.

These projects are part of our ongoing investment in creating welcoming, modern school environments where students can learn and grow.

¡Las obras avanzan en Morse y Washington Irving! Aquí les compartimos un breve resumen del progreso:

En WI, las nuevas gradas van tomando forma, con trabajos en los soportes de los asientos, las barandas, las aceras y las áreas verdes. También se han completado los muros de cimentación de la ampliación del edificio.

En Morse, las renovaciones de la cocina y la cafetería continúan después del horario escolar, mientras los equipos preparan otras áreas para su renovación y trabajan en las paredes, el aislamiento y los sistemas de plomería y electricidad.

Estos proyectos forman parte de nuestra inversión continua en la creación de entornos escolares acogedores y modernos donde los estudiantes puedan aprender y crecer.

A proud moment for Washington Irving! 🌎 Teachers Cathleen Caroleo and Michelle DeVivo represented our district at the recent “Climate Education in Action” event at the American Museum of Natural History.

They joined educators from across New York to share how they’re bringing climate education into the classroom. Their work encourages students to ask questions, think critically about the world around them, and consider how they can care for their community and environment.

🎶 Don’t you… forget about Sleepy Hollow Middle School!

This past week was full of spirit across the district, and SHMS was no exception! Faculty and staff brought back “Underground Theme” days, with the first one of the school year taking everyone back to the ’80s.

Big hair, bright colors and retro outfits gave students plenty of clues as they tried to guess the theme! Staff had a blast putting their looks together, and seeing students’ excitement as they figured it out made it even better.

They’re already looking forward to the next one. After all, our staff just wanna have fun! 🎸👩‍🎤

🎶 ¡No se olviden… de Sleepy Hollow Middle School!

Esta semana estuvo llena de espíritu escolar en todo el distrito, ¡y SHMS no fue la excepción! Los docentes y el personal retomaron los días de temática sorpresa (“Underground Theme”), y el primero de este año escolar nos llevó de vuelta a los años 80.

¡Los peinados voluminosos, los colores llamativos y los atuendos retro les dieron muchas pistas a los estudiantes mientras intentaban adivinar el tema! El personal se divirtió mucho preparando sus disfraces, y ver la emoción de los estudiantes al descubrirlo hizo que la experiencia fuera aún mejor.

Ya esperan con ganas el próximo. Después de todo, ¡nuestro personal solo quiere divertirse! 🎸
