If burning outside today, exercise caution. Please don’t leave your fire unattended and make sure it is fully extinguished and cooled once you are done.

Good Morning! As we know there has been a lack of rain in our area for more than a weeks time now. Ground cover right now may be green but what's underneath is bone dry and will burn easily! The Fire danger in much of the state is HIGH.

US National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA has issued a Special Weather Statement has been issued for western Pennsylvania until 8pm today in coordination with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for an "𝗘𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱" 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱.

Please see the tips below to cut the risk of fire down... If you see something burning or smoking, REPORT it ASAP to 911. The faster we address it, the less chance of spreading.

Remember, this is peak wildfire season in many parts of the country. I know wildfire prevention can seem like a tall order. It may even feel like there's a mountain of safety tips out there, but it's really quite simple. To "summit" up: Always be careful with fire! ⛰️ 🐻 ⛰️

Happy 78th birthday to one of the most iconic characters in advertising history: Smokey Bear! “Born” on August 9, 1944, Smokey was developed by the U.S. Forest Service and the Ad Council to promote their joint campaign of forest fire prevention.

Now a symbol of wildfire prevention as well—and despite the campaign's success through the years—wildfires remain one of the most critical issues across the United States, as we know all too well around here this summer. Smokey’s message that, “Only you can prevent wildfires” is just as relevant and urgent today as it was in 1944.
