‼️ 𝐖𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐟𝐟 𝐔𝐩 ‼️ – 𝘗𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘗𝘪𝘨𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦

Some calls are serious. Some calls are strange. And then there are the ones involving a pig running wild at a local hotel, leading officers on a short-lived game of hide-and-seek.

Just when our officers thought the shift was going to be "routine," they received a call about a pig wandering around a local hotel and causing a bit of a stir. Officers arrived and quickly discovered this little piglet wasn't going to go down without a fight. The piglet had taken cover underneath a police unit, where it clearly believed it had successfully evaded capture.

𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁: 𝘪𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵

After a little patience, some careful coaxing, and what we can only assume was a serious negotiation, officers safely guided the pig out from under the police unit and into custody.

Turns out, the pig had been abandoned at the hotel and was likely just looking for a little protection . . . or maybe complimentary breakfast.

Either way, this porky fugitive is now safe and being cared for at the Slidell Animal Shelter, where it will be evaluated by a veterinarian while awaiting its next chapter.

Great work by our officers for handling this situation with care, professionalism, and just the right amount of bacon-related restraint. 🐷🚔

** 𝐒𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐠𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 “𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐨𝐧” **

The Slidell Police Department Narcotics and K9 Divisions, working in coordination with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, recently concluded a series of proactive narcotics investigations conducted under the title “Operation Clear Horizon.”

The operation, which ran throughout March and May 2026, targeted the distribution and trafficking of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and other dangerous illegal narcotics throughout the City of Slidell.

As a result of these operations, investigators seized significant quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, psilocybin mushrooms, and M**A, along with narcotics packaging materials, digital scales, and multiple fi****ms. Several of the fi****ms recovered were found to be illegally possessed by convicted felons.

In total, twelve individuals were arrested on charges ranging from Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substances and Distribution of Controlled Dangerous Substances to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Those arrested during the operation are listed as follows:

• 56-year-old Anthony Devoney (Slidell, LA)
• 43-year-old Michael Chappetta (Slidell, LA)
• 50-year-old Joseph Paillot (Slidell, LA)
• 63-year-old Darren Rohrbacker (Slidell, LA)
• 49-year-old Farrel Dupuy (Slidell, LA)
• 53-year-old Louis McCoy (Picayune, MS)
• 61-year-old Jerry Babineaux (Slidell, LA)
• 44-year-old Bobby Elam (Slidell, LA)
• 55-year-old Michael Tavernit (Slidell, LA)
• 28-year-old Bruce Metz (Metairie, LA)
• 36-year-old Beau Brinson (Slidell, LA)
• 35-year-old Skyla Williams (Pearl River, LA)

Every quantity of dangerous narcotics removed from our streets represents lives potentially saved and families protected from the devastating impact of addiction, violence, and drug-related crime.

No matter how large or small the operation may be, if you choose to traffic dangerous narcotics in our community, know this:

🏃‍♂️The Slidell Police Association sponsored runners for the 5th Annual Avery Natal 5k run this morning. The foundation provides scholarships for graduates in our community, amongst many other things!!

🔥 🏃‍♂️ This morning, the Slidell Police Department proudly participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Louisiana in support of their incredible athletes.

Joining us this year were members of St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 and 4-year-old Bear Loustalot, who proudly ran the entire 3.5-mile route in support of the athletes and mission of Special Olympics Louisiana.

As we all made our way through the city, students from several local schools lined the route with cheers, smiles, and high-fives that kept the energy strong from start to finish.

We are honored to support these incredible athletes each year and wish them the very best as they prepare to compete in this year’s games! 🥇
