The Slidell Regional Police Academy is a Louisiana State certified Training Academy and a component of the Training Division within the Slidell Police Department. The Academy was established in 1994 and has increased its role and scope of training each year to match the demanding needs of law enforcement officers. The Slidell Regional Police Academy is responsible for the training of the Slidell P

olice Department personnel as well as the training of approximately 70 separate agencies within the greater New Orleans area. During the academy training, cadets will experience several disciplines of training to include: fi****ms, defensive tactics, driving, and dynamic simulation training for use of force encounters plus experiential learning. In addition to the regular academy training, the Training Division also conducts four 40-hour in-service training periods per year for the department, four quarterly fi****ms training/certification classes which use a blend of handgun, rifle, and shotgun, as well as hosting training from other outside courses. The Training Division also conducts specialty training as needed by the department such as, field training officers (FTO) course, taser, tire deflation, tactical vehicle intervention, special response training and training for the public in safety with the Refuse to be a Victim class and Citizen Academy. The academy is located on National Guard grounds and is safely removed from public view while training. The academy staff consists of members who have extensive experience in law enforcement, SWAT, military special operations, police dive teams, narcotics, and martial arts. The academy is conducted in a para-military environment with a heavy emphasis on academia and is one of the most challenging academies in the state.

Last week the Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) held their annual Kids Camp at the Salvation Army Wonderland Camp and Conference Center in Salem, Wisconsin. C.O.P.S. Kids Camp provides family interaction, camp activities, grief counseling, relaxation, and lots of old-fashioned fun! Campers have the opportunity to attend grief counseling sessions specifically designed for their needs and participate in activities such as swimming, fishing, arts and crafts, canoeing, and campfire skits. It is the goal for campers to leave the week with a continuing support system and a tremendous sense of personal growth and self-awareness for the future.
Peyton Simon (oldest son of Sgt. Theresa Simon EOW 06/13/2021 - BPA #19, and Lt. Kevin Simon, retired) was part of the 2025 graduating class. Peyton asked to represent his motherโ€™s memory with shirts from the Slidell Regional Police Academy, which we were honored to donate!
Congratulations to all the graduates. SRPA and the entire blue line family are with you.

Slidell Regional Police Academy Class #66 started their training a little different this morning โ˜€๏ธ! This is the first academy class to ever train in the water๐ŸŠ! Thank you to Cross Gates Family Fitness, for allowing us to use their Gause location facility, to do aquatic training! Training in the water allows our cadets to enhance their strength ๐Ÿ’ช and endurance ๐Ÿƒ, which are two of the most important attributes a police officer can have! ๐Ÿš”
