On July 20th, 1888 the Slinger Fire Department was formed. It was originally named Washington Fire Company of Schlesingerville Wisconsin. A small number of the villages residents meet on that day to form a fire company to protect the village from fire. On July 23rd of 1912 the name of the department was changed to Schleisngerville Fire Department. On May 3rd, 1921 the department once again changed

it name because of the anti german sentiment from World War I. The current station is still located on the very original plot of land from the first station in 1888. Slinger Fire Department continues to be a 100% volunteer fire department as it was from the start.
