Congratulations to Firefighters Croft, Milner, Schroeter, and Schied on successfully completing CMC’s 40 hour Rope Rescue Technician I/II course this afternoon in the City of Waukesha!

This specialized training will provide advanced rope rescue skills that will enhance our department’s capabilities during fireground operations, EMS responses, and technical rescue incidents.

Weekly Call Summary: June 7-13, 2026

📍 06/08 @ 12:32 p.m. - 200 Blk. Slinger Rd, for a smoke alarm sounding in a unit. Investigation found an unattended stove left on a cleaning cycle which caused excessive smoke and the alarms to be set off. The stove was turned off and the apartment was ventilated.

📍 06/09 @ 5:45 a.m. - Hillside Rd and STH 60, to stage nearby for a law enforcement incident. SFD Engine stood by along with Lifestar EMS until no longer needed.

📍 06/10 @ 3:13 p.m. - 200 Blk. E Washington St along with Lifestar EMS, for a two vehicle crash with unknown injury. An engine company responded to assist with traffic control.

📍 06/10 @ 9:05 p.m. - 5100 Blk. Briarwood Dr along with Lifestar EMS, for a patient found pulseless not breathing (PNB). An engine company responded to assist EMS.

This afternoon, Captain Roskopf and Firefighters Thill and Croft assisted a village resident replace their smoke alarms in a challenging location in their home.

Weekly Call Summary: May 31 - June 6, 2026

📍 06/02 @ 6:33 a.m. - 200 Blk. Weil Dr, for a commercial fire alarm. On arrival, crews found light smoke coming from the building and a commercial dumpster on fire filled with cardboard. No fire extension to the building was found and the dumpster fire was extinguished. The cause was undetermined but was deemed a fire sprinkler save!

📍 06/02 @ 4:46 p.m. - 300 Blk. Kettle Moraine Dr N, for a smoldering grass fire near the road. SFD responded and assisted with extinguishment after law enforcement utilized their extinguishers.

📍 06/03 @ 12:37 a.m. - 600 Blk. Cedar Bluffs Way, to assist Lifestar EMS on a rescue call. Personnel arrived and assisting with lifting the patient.

📍 06/03 @ 1:42 p.m. - 1000 Blk. E Commerce Blvd, for a commercial fire alarm. Crews investigated and found a probable faulty alarm system.

📍 06/04 @ 4:42 a.m. - 4500 Blk. County Trunk NN along with Lifestar EMS, for a car vs deer crash. Crews assisted EMS and cleared with no further action.

📍 06/04 @ 11:52 p.m. - 600 Blk. Ellys Way, along with Lifestar EMS, for a residential carbon monoxide alarm with one occupant reporting symptoms. Crews investigated and were unable to find any cause for alarm.

📍 06/05 @ 2:31 p.m. - 4000 Blk. Lake Dr, for a report of a tree on fire against a power line. Incident command was unable to locate any hazard and cleared from the scene.

📍 06/05 @ 5:27 p.m. - 300 Blk. James St, for an unknown smell of smoke/fire in the multi-family apartment. Crews investigated and found no cause for alarm and it was deemed a good intent call.

📍 06/05 @ 6:27 p.m. - Big Cedar Lake in the area of Timmer’s Bay along with Lifestar EMS, for a report of a sinking boat with 12 occupants on board. All occupants were able to make it to land without rescue assistance. (see previous press release for further info)

Water Rescue Incident on Big Cedar Lake

On Friday, June 5, 2026, at 6:27 p.m., the Slinger Fire Department and Lifestar EMS were dispatched to Big Cedar Lake in the area of Timmer's Bay, located in the Town of West Bend, for a reported water rescue.

Because this area is shared with the West Bend Fire Department's response area, their Technical Rescue Team was also dispatched to assist.

Initial reports indicated that a boat had taken on water with 12 occupants aboard.

Our personnel responded to the Cedar Lake Yacht Club with freshwater rescue divers and an inflatable boat, preparing to launch for rescue.

Shortly thereafter, it was confirmed that all occupants had safely reached shore and no individuals remained in the water. No injuries were reported among the occupants or emergency responders.

The Slinger Fire Department would like to thank the Washington County Sheriff's Office Communications Center, Patrol Division, and the West Bend Fire Department Technical Rescue Team for their assistance and coordinated response to this incident.

The Slinger High School Track teams (Boys & Girls) are headed to the State meet in La Crosse, WI. Firefighter Bohn and Firefighter Wolf helped lead the team out of town.
Good luck teams! 🦉

🚒Fun Fact: This will be the 5th sports team this school year that SFD was had the privilege to send off and wish the best of luck too.

Weekly Call Summary: May 24-30, 2026

📍 05/24 @ 1:15 a.m. - 5100 Blk. STH 33, for a mutual aid request by the Allenton Fire Deparmtnent on a structure fire. SFD responded with a Tender and RIT.

📍 05/25 @ 6:25 p.m. - E Washington St and E Commerce Blvd, for an injury crash involving a motorcycle. Crews responded and assisted with patient care, traffic control, and transport to a hospital.

📍 05/27 @ 2:43 p.m. - 4100 Blk. STH 175, for a report of a tree on fire near power lines. No fire was found but the incident was forwarded to the power company.

📍 05/27 @ 7:08 p.m. - Scenic and Sherman Rd, for a single motorcycle crash. Crews were canceled as law enforcement was unable to locate.

📍 05/29 @ 9:59 a.m. - 200 Blk. Oak St, to assist Lifestar EMS on a patient lift assist. SFD provided manpower carrying the patient from the residence to the ambulance.
