Hello Slippery Rock Community!

Thank you so much for the overwhelming support and kind words on the post announcing me as your new Library Director! This community and library have always held a special place in my heart, so stepping into this position truly feels like coming back home.

I grew up in Slippery Rock and have watched our community grow over the years and now having the chance to lead such an important part of it is truly an honor. One of the most special parts of this experience already has been reconnecting with familiar faces from my past while also meeting so many new people who care deeply about our community and library. It makes me very happy to know that my son will grow up here to be surrounded by it all.

Thank you again for the warm welcome and support. I am so excited for this next chapter and look forward to working together with this amazing community to help nurture and grow this library so that it can thrive for all of you.

Good news! You can now find our events easily on our website and register for them online! Here is an example how to find our events and programs. RSVPing online will help us easily keep track while making sure we have enough supplies for everyone that does register! Join us on June 13th from 11:30AM to 2:30 PM for our summer reading kick off party! Sign up for the summer reading challenge, play yard games, enjoy popsicles, and help us decorate the sidewalk with chalk art! You can also sign up for our weekly drawing to be a youth librarian for the week where you can help us create a book display! This month's true crime topic will be the Toy Box Killer, David Parker Ray who used a modified semi-trailer to torture his victims. He is suspected to have committed 60 homicides, but the police weren't able to provide any evidence to convict him of any murders. David Parker Ray's crimes can be disturbing to some people. While we will not be discussing the details of his actions, if you are sensitive to the nature of his crimes we advise you to skip this month. The club will be meeting on May 26th at 5:30.

We’re Hiring! Library Assistant (Part-Time)

Slippery Rock Community Library is looking for a Library Assistant to join our team! This position plays an active role in with programming for all ages, community outreach, and general library operations. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about literature, enjoys working with community members, and values the role of libraries as welcoming community spaces.

The Slippery Rock Community Library Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Chelsey Grossman as the new Library Director. Chelsey has worked in our library as the Youth Services Assistant and is looking forward to continuing to bring her passion for the library into her new position.

With a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Minor from Slippery Rock University, Chelsey brings experience and an enthusiastic approach to the job.

The Board of Directors looks forward to working with her.
