Mrs. Rast is a wonderful example of what it means to be a team player! Since stepping into her new role, she has approached every challenge with a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and dedication to our students and staff. She has worked closely with both school and district staff to learn her new responsibilities and ensure she is providing the very best support possible. We are grateful for the energy, collaboration, and positivity she brings to our school each day!

Mrs. Gardner is truly deserving of this recognition for her dedication, attention to detail, and commitment to Princeton Middle/High School. She worked extra hours to ensure our school schedules were accurate and ready for the start of the school year. She also went above and beyond by assisting with summer deadlines and countless tasks behind the scenes. Her hard work and reliability help our school run smoothly, and we appreciate all that she does!

Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) provide Johnston County students with opportunities to take what they learn in the classroom and apply those skills in real-world settings. CTSOs help students develop leadership, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and employability skills while connecting their CTE coursework to future careers, college, and community involvement.

Promoting CTSO participation throughout Johnston County Public Schools can help more students recognize the benefits of becoming involved beyond the classroom. Students should understand that CTSOs are more than traditional school clubs. They provide opportunities to compete, lead, network with professionals, serve their communities, explore careers, and develop skills that employers value.

Johnston County schools can promote CTSOs by highlighting the opportunities available through each organization and making recruitment a consistent part of the CTE experience. Teachers, counselors, administrators, and current CTSO members can work together to introduce students to organizations that align with their interests and career goals.

Johnston County students can participate in organizations that connect directly to a variety of career pathways, including:
DECA – Business, marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, and hospitality
FBLA – Business, leadership, technology, and career development
FCCLA – Family and consumer sciences, leadership, community service, and personal development
FFA – Agriculture, leadership, environmental science, and agricultural careers
HOSA – Health science, healthcare, leadership, and medical careers
SkillsUSA – Skilled trades, technical careers, leadership, and workforce skills
TSA – Technology, engineering, design, and STEM-related careers.

After several years of inactivity, Johnston County successfully reestablished the welding program at Smithfield-Selma High School. While the timeline required a significant, last-minute effort to put the necessary resources and logistics in place, the commitment and collaboration of all parties involved made it possible. Through strong communication, teamwork, and a shared commitment to providing students with valuable career opportunities, we were able to successfully relaunch the program.
