🚌 Only 8 days until the first day! IWCS Transportation is working to finalize preliminary bus routes for the 2026–2027 school year.

For student safety, routes are not posted publicly online. Families may receive route information through communication from the school and during Open House. Routes and times may continue to change as enrollment and stops are updated.

Important reminders:
⏰ Students should arrive at the bus stop 10 minutes before the scheduled time.
👨‍👩‍👧 Students in Grade 3 or younger must have a parent/guardian present at afternoon drop-off unless a self-release waiver is completed with the school.
📱 The MyView bus tracker will be available beginning on the first day of school.

📣 IWCS Wants to Hear From You!

IWCS is launching a Family & Community Engagement Task Force as part of our Strategic Plan. Members will help us:

🗣️ Bring family and community voices into future initiatives
🌟 Help every student discover, develop, and maximize their unique gifts and talents

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2 — ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
🔸 Carrollton Elementary: 4:00–7:00 p.m.; teachers schedule appointments, with a virtual option

The School Board will hold a special called meeting on Monday, August 31, 2026, beginning at 5:00pm in the Conference Room of the IWCS School Administration Office, 9307 Old Stage Highway, Smithfield, VA 23430. The purpose of the meeting is to select the District 1 School Board member and to approve the MOU with the Western Tidewater Community Services Board. The meeting will be recorded and made available on the IWCS YouTube channel.

⏰ Only 15 days remain until school begins! If you are enrolling a student who is new to IWCS, now is the time to make sure the entire process is complete.

After pre-registration is approved, families must complete all enrollment forms and provide:
📄 State-issued birth certificate
🩺 Physical dated within 12 months of school entry and immunization record
🪪 Parent/guardian photo identification
⚖️ Custody documents, if applicable
🏠 Two approved proofs of Isle of Wight County residency

Families living with another household must also complete the Shared Housing process, which is required annually.

A student is not fully enrolled until the Central Registrar has reviewed and approved the forms and documents. Completing the process now helps schools prepare schedules, transportation, technology, and services before September 8.

☐ Submit all required registration documents

☐ Begin planning first-day transportation
