The Officers and Members of the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department want to say THANK YOU to and National Volunteer Fire Council () for the generous donation of emergency drinking water, and to Frank B. Fuhrer for delivering it to our fire station! This water will help keep our firefighters hydrated during wildfires and extended responses in extreme heat.

The donation is provided through Anheuser-Busch’s Emergency Drinking Water for Wildland Firefighters program, which supports volunteer departments with critical hydration resources during wildfire season. Learn more at www.nvfc.org/water.

Many thanks to Albert Gallatin High School faculty and Seniors for facilitating this year’s “Mock Crash” exercise. This event is to stress the dangers if drunk/distracted driving. We appreciate the assistance of our neighboring mutual aid companies Collier, Fairchance and Point Marion Volunteer Fire Departments as well as Fayette EMS and PA State Police. The student performers and makeup artists did a great job creating a realistic scenario. Also need to thank Adah Fire Chief L.C. Otto for narrating the event to provide context for the student audience and Georges Township staff for staging the vehicles. We also appreciate the thought-provoking questions by the students in the auditorium after the exercise was completed. Our hope, and that of the other Fire, EMS and State Police participants, is that this presentation will help someone make a better choice at some point in the future to prevent an incident like the one staged. Thank you.
