🔥🚒 Once Upon a Time… in Smiths Station! 📖✨

There’s just something special about Homecoming in your hometown! 🐾

We had a great time riding alongside the Smiths Station High School Fire Science Class in this year’s Homecoming Parade. From the familiar faces lining the streets to the Panther pride everywhere you looked, days like this remind us just how special it is to serve the community we call home.

At Smiths Station Fire Protection District, we’re proud to be more than just your fire department. We’re your neighbors, your friends, your family, and fellow Panthers.

It made us proud to ride alongside the next generation of the fire service. Every great story has a beginning, and for some of these Fire Science students, this may just be the first chapter of a lifelong career serving their community.

Small-town traditions, hometown pride, Friday night lights, and a community that always shows up for one another that’s Smiths Station. 🐾

Spire is working to repair a 6-inch gas line in the area of Lee Road 246 between Lee Road 222 and Lee Road 430. They have indicated that it will take several hours to complete the repairs. Please find an alternate route.

🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸

It is an honor for Smiths Station Fire District to walk alongside the students of Smiths Station High School as we remember the heroes of September 11, 2001 the day the world stopped and our nation stood still.

We remember the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, military members, and countless civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice. We remember their courage, their selflessness, and the families who continue to carry their loss.

Today, we walk together not only to remember those we lost, but to ensure their stories and sacrifices are never forgotten.

25 years may pass, but we will NEVER FORGET. 🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 Always Remembered. Always Honored.

August was another busy month for our staff and volunteers.

During August 2026, Smiths Station Fire Protection District personnel responded to 309 incidents throughout the community. Medical calls continued to account for the majority of our responses, with personnel also handling fire incidents, hazardous situations, public service calls, and other non-emergency responses.

We appreciate the continued support of our community and the dedication of our personnel who remain ready to answer the call each day.

We are saddened to learn of the untimely passing of one our current part-time employees. During her time with the District, Yun was instrumental in helping improve our EMS services. We ask everyone to keep her family in their thoughts as they navigate this difficult time.

🕊️ Harris County EMS mourns the loss of Paramedic Yun Nye

Harris County EMS is mourning the passing of Paramedic Yun Nye, who died on August 24, 2026.

Though her time with the department was far too short, EMS officials say Yun made a lasting impact on her coworkers and quickly became a valued member of the Harris County EMS family.

She is remembered as dependable, selfless, kind, funny and someone who could bring a smile even during the hardest shifts.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Yun’s family, friends, loved ones and her fellow first responders during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Yun. We have it from here.

The Smiths Station Fire Protection District is accepting applications for a full-time Firefighter, Firefighter-EMT, or Firefighter-Paramedic position.

We offer a 48/96 shift schedule, competitive pay based on certification and experience, RSA retirement, District-paid health insurance contributions, PTO accrual based on experience, and five paid holidays with premium pay.

Pay Ranges:
- Firefighter (Grade 16) $51,171.38-$77,863.31
- Firefighter-EMT (Grade 17) $53,761.93-$81,805.14
- Firefighter-Paramedic (Grade 19) $59,343.11-$90,297.56

Applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on September 1, 2026.

🚸 School Starts Tomorrow! 🚸

Tomorrow marks the beginning of a brand-new school year, and we couldn't be more excited for students, teachers, school staff, and families!

As our roads become busier with school buses, young drivers, pedestrians, and children walking to and from school, we ask everyone to slow down and stay alert. Please obey school zone speed limits, stop for school buses when required, avoid distractions, and leave a few minutes early so you don't have to rush.

A little extra patience and caution can make all the difference in keeping our community safe.

From all of us at Smith Station Fire Protection District, we wish every student, teacher, administrator, and school employee a safe, successful, and amazing school year. Let's work together to make sure everyone gets to school and back home safely each day.

During July 2026, Smiths Station Fire Protection District personnel responded to 273 incidents throughout the community.

July responses included 207 medical incidents, 28 public service calls, 32 no-emergency or canceled responses, and 6 fire incidents. Medical responses accounted for nearly 76% of the District's total call volume for the month.

From January 1 through July 31, 2026, District personnel responded to 1,937 incidents.

These numbers reflect the continued demand placed on the District's fire and emergency medical resources and the broad range of services our personnel provide each day. We remain committed to providing dependable, professional service to the Smiths Station community.
