City of Smiths Station Celebrates 25 Years of Growth, Community, and Progress while Honoring America's 250th Anniversary



SMITHS STATION, Ala. — The City of Smiths Station invited residents, businesses, community leaders, and visitors to join in a historic celebration on June 13, 2026, marking the City's 25th Anniversary and commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America.

Featured attractions included a community carnival, classic and custom car show, BBQ cook-off competition, a variety of food trucks, special recognitions highlighting the founding leaders, live entertainment by GP-38, patriotic tributes, and organizations that have contributed to the success of both our city and our nation.

The City of Smiths Station extends its sincere appreciation to the many sponsors, employees, community partners, businesses, volunteers, and civic organizations whose generous support has made our celebration possible. Their commitment to our community reflects the spirit of partnership and pride that has helped Smiths Station thrive for the past 25 years. We are grateful for their investment in this historic event as we celebrate both our city's Silver Anniversary and America's 250th.

WE ARE HIRING!!!!

The City of Smiths Station has IMMEDIATE openings for the following positions at the Public Works Department.
✅ Experienced Equipment Operator

✅ General Maintenance
Responsibilities for this position include bulk waste pickup, mowing and weedeating, pothole patching, and City Maintenance. A Class B CDL is preferred but not required.

BOTH are a 40 hour/Full time position with benefits including competitive compensation, health insurance benefits and retirement.

We have rides for the kids, an amazing BBQ cookoff, food trucks, a car show, celebration cake for EVERYONE, some Smiths Station history shared by some special guests, DJ all day, a concert by the famous GP-38, and finishing with FIREWORKS!!!!

We hope everyone has made plans to join The City of Smiths Station’s celebration tomorrow. Please refer to the map for road closures starting at 9:00 am EST on June 13, 2026. The map also shows the location of events, and entrances. Please enter through the main entrances (Front and side) on the main campus to get a ticket. The first 500 will receive a ticket for a 25th Anniversary Commemorative Challenge coin. Coins will be distributed at 6:00 when cake is being served in the Storm Shelter.
**You must have a ticket to get a coin**

A schedule of events is also attached. When you get on campus, there will be QR codes posted around to reference both.
