đźš’ Good Morning, Smithville and Surrounding Communities! đźš’

Today is the day! The Genegantslet Fire Company is hosting our 3rd Annual Boot Drive starting at 9:00 AM on State Highway 41, in front of the old fire station at the corner of Tarbell Road and Route 41.

Our members will be out collecting donations to help support the equipment, training, and emergency services that keep our community safe.

⚠️ Please slow down and use extra caution as you travel through the area. Firefighters will be in and around the roadway, and your patience helps keep everyone safe.

If you're able, please consider making a donation. Every dollar helps us continue serving our neighbors when they need us most.

Thank you for your continued support—we couldn't do it without this community! ❤️🚒

Training for Emergency Readiness some of our members participated in a hands-on water supply and apparatus operations training exercise to strengthen the skills needed to respond effectively during emergency incidents.
Members operated Engine 181, practicing drafting operations and filling tanker to establish a reliable water supply. While awaiting tanker turnaround, crews also trained with our blitz gun supplied by a 5-inch large diameter hose (LDH).
Members additionally conducted driver and pump operations training with Pumper/Tanker 186, focusing on transferring tank water to the pump and flowing water through a 2½-inch hose line. Crews also worked on safe hose line handling techniques, emphasizing firefighter safety and effective water delivery.
Regular training like this ensures our members remain prepared, confident, and ready to serve our community whenever an emergency call comes in.

Attention Smithville community and surrounding areas,

We are coming together to support one of our own. BarbaraAnn Whitmore, a dedicated member who faithfully served our community for 14 years, is currently in need of our help. During her time with the department, Barb held several important roles, including Secretary, Fire Police Captain, and Squad Lieutenant. She also served as Chairperson of the Smithville Day Committee for 10 years, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to our community.
Even in retirement, Barb and her husband, Donald Whitmore—a lifetime member, past Fire Chief, past Assistant Chief, past Squad Captain, and Training Officer—continue to support the department by assisting with events and caring for their grandchildren, Caleb, Bailey, and Jessica, so their daughters can respond to emergency calls and participate in department activities.
Barb is the proud mother of 3rd Assistant Fire Chief Terry Whitmore, Firefighter Taylor Schrann, and former department member Trista Pratt. Now, it is our turn to stand beside her and her family.
A benefit will be held on May 17th,2026 at the fire station to support Barb in her fight against kidney disease. She is currently seeking a kidney donor, as well as assistance with ongoing medical expenses.
We ask the community to come together in support of the Whitmore family, who have given so much and continue to serve. Any support—whether through attendance, donations, or sharing this message—is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and continued support.
