4. If we cannot access and inspect the meter at your home, another attempt to inspect the meter will be made in the future.

The City of Smithville invites you to attend a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall, 317 Main Street, Smithville, TX. Representatives from ESG will provide an overview of the upcoming wastewater treatment plant upgrade, discuss the project, and answer questions from the community. This is an opportunity to learn more about the improvements being made to the City's wastewater treatment system, why they are needed, and what residents can expect as the project moves forward. Statement from Mayor Sharon Foerster

As Mayor, I need to announce that our City Manager, Jeremy Frazier, has resigned from his position with the City of Smithville.

Mr. Frazier and the City have enjoyed a productive working relationship. He has decided to pursue new professional opportunities that will take him away from Smithville and the surrounding area. After thoughtful discussions, both Mr. Frazier and the City agreed that it would be in the best interests of all parties for him to resign, allowing the City to begin the process of selecting its next City Manager.

The City Council is expected to appoint an Interim City Manager at its meeting on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, to ensure the continued, uninterrupted operation of City government. Until that appointment is made, I will work closely with our department heads and City staff to ensure that essential services and daily operations continue without disruption.

This is an important time for Smithville. The City is advancing several significant projects, preparing the upcoming fiscal year budget, and addressing a number of ongoing initiatives that are critical to our community. My highest priority is ensuring that these efforts continue without interruption and that the City maintains its forward momentum.

In the coming weeks, the City Council will consider both the process for recruiting a permanent City Manager and the qualifications necessary to lead Smithville into the future. As we evaluate both an interim appointment and a permanent successor, I believe it is essential to select a leader who can quickly assume responsibility, understand the status of the City's ongoing projects, and can provide the steady leadership needed to keep our organization moving forward. Our employees deserve stability, and our residents deserve confidence that their City government remains focused on serving the community with professionalism, transparency, and integrity.

While leadership transitions can present challenges, they also provide opportunities for continued growth and renewed focus. Smithville has always demonstrated resilience and a strong sense of community, and I am confident we will navigate this transition successfully. I look forward to working with the City Council, our employees, and our residents to ensure a seamless transition and continued progress for our City.

Good evening. The forecast for the Colorado River continues to be updated regarding the impacts of the Colorado River in Bastrop County as a result of the floodgate operations being conducted by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and the City of Austin. As of this time the Colorado River is forecast to crest in Bastrop at 14.6 feet late Monday night / early Tuesday and in Smithville at 10.0 feet Tuesday around noon. These are lower amounts than previously forecast.

Flows downstream will be higher and faster than usual while the floodgates are open. People downstream should secure boats, docks and other property, and keep an eye on conditions.
