Congratulations to all of our participants of the 2026 DeKalb County 4-H Chick Chain show tonight! We had a great turn out and some great chickens!! A huge thank you to everyone who bought chickens tonight as well!! All of the money raised tonight goes straight back to the 4-Hers and their projects!

A big thank you to Clark Adcock and Adcock Auctions for running our auction tonight!

DON’T FORGET!

Our annual Chick Chain Poultry Show and Sale will be this Thursday, October 1st, 2026!

This is the final part of our Annual 4-H Chick Chain Program! These 4-H members have been working hard all summer raising high quality laying hens to show and auction off!

If you’re in the market for some nice laying hens we will have Black Australorp and Brown Star hens available to purchase.

The poultry show will start at 5:30 and auction begins at 6pm at the Smithville Farmer’s Market.

Congratulations to our DeKalb 4-H Grilling team!

They competed in the 4-H Grillmaster Challenge at the Nashville Fair this past Thursday!

Results are as follows:

Junior high team individual placings:

🐖Pork: Addi Moore 4th place

🐄Beef: Riley Martin 9th place

🐑Lamb: Bryson Keith 6th place

🐓Chicken: Levi Reynolds 10th place
Mary Alice Moore 7th place

Senior High team individual placings:

🐑Lamb: Carson Miller 2nd place

Lennon Salas 5th place

Senior high team A scored 3rd place in the Central Region and will be competing at the TN 4-H Grilling contest in October! This team includes Carson Miller, Persephone Hockert, Sam Arnold and Lennon Salas.

Our first Homeschool 4-H club meeting will be this coming Monday, September 21st at 10am at the DeKalb County UT/TSU Extension Office!

This is open to all homeschool students in Dekalb county in 4th-12th grade!

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Mary Moore who competed in 4-H Fun with Fashion today at the Tennessee State Fair! Mary competed in the Athleisure, Casual, and Best Wear categories; placing 1st in Athleisure and 3rd in Best Wear! 🥳 We are so incredibly proud of Mary!! 🥳
