The Friends of Smyrna Library and the Smyrna Public Library will host a celebration of life for William “Bill” P. Marchione Jr., a historian, educator and longtime community volunteer, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, in the meeting room.

Bill devoted much of his life to teaching and preserving local history. After moving to Georgia in 2010, he became an important voice in documenting Smyrna’s past and, in 2013, authored A Brief History of Smyrna, Georgia.

The public is invited to join Bill’s family, friends and fellow community members for refreshments, conversation and remembrances. Dress is casual.

The Friends participated in the Smyrna Handmade Market on August 16, selling t-shirts, book bags, and "Blind Date with a Book" selections for adults and youth. Thank you to the volunteers who wrapped the books. You can still purchase these items through the Friends website and at the Sept 19 & 20 book sale. https://friendsofsmyrnalibrary.com/
