It's that time again! Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training with Kuzushi Club Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu attendance competition among all four shifts to encourage participation and teamwork.

Congratulations to our June winner, B- Baker Shift!

This training not only strengthens officer safety and preparedness on the street, but also builds camaraderie and teamwork across each shift. Great work to everyone who continues to show up, train hard, and support one another.

Which shift will be next to hold the belt!!!

Help us congratulate our Spring 2026 Interns! 🎓💙🖤

Our Spring 2026 interns successfully completed over 100 hours with the Smyrna Police Department, gaining hands-on experience across multiple divisions and learning firsthand about the many facets of law enforcement.

Throughout their internship, they participated in ride-alongs, community engagement events, shadowed our Crime Analyst, completed projects and assignments, observed 911 Communications operations, visited the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office, and so much more.

Through these experiences, both interns were able to further narrow down the career paths they plan to pursue in the near future—an accomplishment we are incredibly proud of.

At SPD, we value the opportunity to mentor and invest in the next generation of public safety professionals. We are always proud of our interns and grateful for the time, dedication, and enthusiasm they bring to our department.

We wish them nothing but success in their future endeavors and want them to know they will always have a place to call home at the Smyrna Police Department.

Congratulations, ladies! We can’t wait to see all you accomplish. 🎓

As summer approaches and more people head outdoors to enjoy the warmer weather, we want to remind everyone to stay safe and follow the law when operating electric bikes and motorcycles.

Georgia law is very clear: high-speed electric two-wheelers are not treated the same as standard bicycles. Depending on their speed and motor output, some may be legally classified as motor vehicles.

That means they may require:
✅ A valid driver’s license
✅ Registration
✅ Insurance
✅ A DOT-approved motorcycle helmet

Some are also prohibited from sidewalks and multi-use paths.

Parents, please take a moment to review the graphic below and properly identify your child’s vehicle. Check the top speed, motor output, age requirements, and where it can legally be operated.

We want kids and families outside enjoying the summer—but doing so safely and legally helps protect everyone on our roads, sidewalks, and shared paths.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe this summer!
