UPDATED POST
Smyrna High School parents,
This is James Evans again with Rutherford County Schools. We want to update you about the precautionary lockdown at Smyrna High School. The lockdown has ended.
Police received an anonymous call this morning with a bomb threat against the school. The school was locked down immediately as a precaution, which is standard procedure. Law enforcement and multiple other agencies responded. The school has been cleared and the bomb threat was bogus. The school is returning to normal operation and all students are safe.
We are not dismissing school today, but we do understand that some parents may want to check out their children early. If you do, please enter the school at McWilliams Drive, not Bulldog Circle.
We appreciate your patience while we addressed the situation. We have standard safety and response procedures in place to ensure the safety of students. Thanks again.
