UT Extension-Hancock County This page provides educational information and updates on classes, programs, events hosted by the UT Extension office in Hancock County, TN.

Follow any road in Tennessee and you'll find people whose lives have been influenced by Extension's educational programs. Extension agents live and work in every county in the state. They help people solve problems and lead richer, fuller lives. Agents are the two-way link between Tennesseans, both urban and rural, and university specialists, scientists and researchers. Extension also gives special attention to youth. Challenges facing Tennessee's young people are greater than ever before. Extension's 4-H youth development program helps youth from 9 to 19 develop self-esteem, leadership and citizenship skills, and gain knowledge in a wide range of subjects. From health to public speaking, from wildlife to photography, 4-H brings tomorrow's world to today's youth, and encourages advanced education. Tennessee 4-H clubs have continually produced national winners in project competition, and Tennessee has one of the largest 4-H memberships in the nation.

UT Extension – Hancock County FCS had a great time teaching kids about fire safety and emergency preparedness at the First Responders Fun Fest! We enjoyed the fun activities, giveaways, and sharing plenty of s’mores.

In recognition of National Fire Prevention Month, we also took time to remember Jerry A. Seal.
.And we even came home with 1st place in the Chili Cook-Off! πŸ†

October the 6th, these 4th - 8th grade 4-H members attended our Hunting Skills/Shooting sports day camp. Students got to spend the first half of the day learning about hunting various animals such as: deer, ducks, turkey, small game, predators and tree stand safety and hunting with a saddle. After lunch they got to learn about the shooting sports areas, and even shot a few clay targets and archery. Thanks to everyone involved in making this day camp a fun and enjoyable experience for the kids. We had a host of volunteers and agents who helped make sure the kids learned some new skills and learned about the shooting sports area. Those people were: Chad Burke, David Ellison, Jackson Moyers, Christian Dalton, Katelynn Rector, and Jason and Renetta Lawson. Thanks for all the the parents and volunteers for helping make this possible for the 4-H kids.
