🏠 THIS WEEK’S METRO ATLANTA HOUSING UPDATE

Evictions No More is watching several important developments affecting renters, voucher families, future homeowners and housing organizations across Fulton, DeKalb and Gwinnett counties.

✅ Important news for DeKalb EHV families:
The Housing Authority of DeKalb County announced that Emergency Housing Voucher households who were under lease as of September 30, 2026, are expected to transition to Tenant Protection Vouchers by the end of December.

If this applies to you, do not assume your conversion is complete. Contact HADC, review every notice you receive and confirm your individual eligibility, tenant payment, recertification requirements and landlord paperwork.

🏘️ Thirty vacant DeKalb properties may be transferred to the Regional Land Bank:
The proposal is expected to return for consideration on October 27. These properties could create future housing and community-development opportunities, but the transfer is not final and the properties are not currently open for applications.

💰 New housing funding and partnership opportunities:
Georgia Rehoused Round 3 includes funding for permanent housing, shelter development, homelessness services, encampment response and veteran-focused programs. Journey’s Hope Foundation and Evictions No More are exploring ways to participate through qualified government and community partnerships.

📅 Additional deadlines we are monitoring:

• November 13: Gwinnett CDBG, HOME and ESG organizational grant applications
• November 25: Georgia Rehoused pre-applications
• December 16: Georgia Rehoused competitive applications

More than 144,000 eviction cases were filed across Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cobb and Clayton counties in 2025. That does not mean 144,000 families were physically evicted many cases are resolved, dismissed, paid or otherwise end without displacement. But an eviction filing represents a household whose housing has entered a legal crisis, and repeated filings are common. Evictions No More exists to intervene earlier helping renters understand where they are in the process, identify real resources, create an action plan, navigate available assistance, and protect their path to stable housing.

🚨 THIS IS WHY EVICTIONS NO MORE IS NEEDED.

I want you to really look at this number.

Approximately 144,000 eviction filings in Metro Atlanta.

Not across the entire country.

Right here in our own backyard.

And behind every filing is a real situation.

A mother.
A father.
A veteran.
A senior.
A family.
Someone whose income changed.
Someone who fell behind.
Someone who may have received paperwork and had absolutely NO IDEA what to do next.

And here's something else we have to understand:

An eviction filing doesn't always mean someone ultimately loses their home.

Sometimes there is still an opportunity to respond, seek assistance, understand available options, connect with resources or develop a plan.

But people can't take advantage of resources they don't know exist.

And THAT is one of the reasons I created Evictions No More.

What happens when they keep paying application fees and STILL can't get approved?

Those questions matter too.

That’s a sentence I want Evictions No More to help fewer people have to say.

Sometimes finding an apartment isn’t the problem.

Getting APPROVED is.

Past evictions.
Landlord debt.
Credit challenges.
Rental history.
Income requirements.
Application after application.
Fee after fee.

Eventually people stop asking, “Where can I live?”
