To our current and future customers! Today, Christmas Eve, I will have the privilege of notarizing documents for a mother recently placed in hospice as well as wills for her son and his partner. This day will bring Peace of Mind to a nice family.

Clocks will be changing SOON!

My "WHY" in day to day life is to help people. I recently was provided this excellent information on assisting folks with dementia and time change. While I can't notarize for those that have dementia, it doesn't mean I can't share this with you as they can be someone close to you!

He’s the one who is ultimately responsible for the
extra hour of sleep most Americans will get when we
“fall back” at 2am on November 3rd this year.
Although he suggested the idea in 1784 to save
candles during winter mornings and nights, the
practice didn’t become official in the United States
until 1966 when Congress passed the Uniform Time
Act. Their intention was the same, to save energy.

The call comes many times at a moment of crisis, luckily they have mental clarity (which I test for). Others are not so lucky. Consider completing your powers of attorney for healthcare and finances in order to alleviate additional stress and the volatility of health fragility. Even a simple one would be better than nothing. If nothing, the courts decide and critical time can be wasted obtaining court decisions. They may not decide in a way you would prefer.

Are you an LLC or SCorp? Have you filed your BOI (Beneficial Officer Information) report to FINCEN? It is a new requirement to assist in alleviating money laundering and fraud, or at least know who to contact. If you need assistance with this, feel free to reach out, as if the report isn't in by 31 December 2024, you may be subject to $500/day fines. I am assisting my business clients with this, so they are filed accurately and timely.

A new record - A 100yr old client!

"Mother Mary" is sharp as a tack! But age is just a number....she had a change in family dynamics and needed to add a codicil to her will.

Notarizing documents for a 100-year-old client ensures legacy preservation and legal validity but poses challenges like physical limitations and cognitive capacity concerns. While it brings peace of mind and prevents disputes, it requires careful assessment of the client's capabilities and vigilance against coercion or undue influence. I've been asked, "What is the oldest or youngest person you've notarized?" Great question! While each state has it's laws regarding youthful signers, my youngest are typically documents for 18 yr olds going away to college. While they may not understand the ramifications of becoming a legal adult, their parent(s) definitely do! Powers of Attorney for healthcare and finances are extremely important if these "invincible" young adults become incapacitated, as hospitals and financial institutions need these "permission slips" in place before they will engage in conversation with anyone but the client.

Oldest? I was so honored to help Mr. R recently with his Powers of Attorney at 99 yrs young! He was mentally VERY fit and had just relocated out here to live with his son and daughter-in-law. I was proud of his son for setting this up, as the likelihood of needing the documents become more crucial each and every day.

If these documents aren't in place, the courts will need to step in and select an "agent". Make sure you have who YOU want on yours! Don't leave anything up to chance. What are you waiting for?
