Another reason I’m running for school board is I believe in removing barriers to academic achievement. In order to support all students and ensure they have the opportunity to succeed we need to consider what barriers may be preventing that. Barriers can be socioeconomic, ability, neurodivergent, social-emotional, as well as impacts from extended remote learning…plus more. Seeing the whole humanity of each student is imperative to ensuring they receive the most successful educational environment that sets them up to start out adulthood strong.

One of the reasons I chose to run for the school board is because I think it’s important for the school district to engage with families and the community. The Strategic Plan is the first step in engaging more and I am hopeful we can continue to find creative ways to engage families in conversations around education, achievement and obstacles.
