We have officially launched planning for Centennial Trail South! ***Please note: The future Centennial Trail South Extension is not yet open to the public.***

This long-envisioned project will ultimately complete the Centennial Trail through Snohomish County and connect it from Skagit County to King County's regional trail system.

As planning begins, the County is inviting community members to help shape the future of the trail by watching a project overview video, completing an online survey, and participating in community outreach events throughout July and August.

Great news for the future Snohomish County Food and Farming Center! Yesterday, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) delivered a $5 million ceremonial check for the Food & Farming Center in Snohomish County.

Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) delivered a $5 million ceremonial check for the Food & Farming Center in Snohomish County. DelBene secured the investment in the FY24 federal funding law.

UPDATE: The field was repaired on 8/17 and is now back open. Thanks to our operations team!

Due to property damage from people illegally igniting fireworks on the turf at Tambark Creek Park ballfield (which was just updated with brand new turf in 2025) the field is closed. Due to the extent of the damage, the field will unfortunately be closed indefinitely until repairs can be made. We do not have an estimated date for repair or reopening at this time.

Please remember it is illegal to set off fireworks at any Snohomish County Park.

Thanks to a grant from Snohomish County PUD’s TreePower Program, we have planted 13 new trees at Evergreen State Fair Park!

The new plantings include eight Emerald Sunshine elms, two paperbark maples and three Serbian spruces. The project was designed to help reduce energy consumption by using trees as a natural cooling solution in areas where buildings and pavement are exposed to high levels of sunlight. As the trees grow, they will provide additional shade and help create cooler conditions for fairgoers while supporting greater energy efficiency at the park.

We've also applied for funding through the 2026 Tree Power grant cycle. Award announcements are expected in August, which could bring even more trees to the park in the future.

8/7/26 UPDATE: Due to a Snohomish County Stage 2 Burn Ban, recreational fires and bbq briquettes/charcoal grills are not allowed at any Snohomish County park or campground at this time. Propane fire tables and gas fueled cooking appliances are still allowed.

Faced with continued drought and rising wildfire risk, the Snohomish County Fire Marshal is prohibiting all outdoor burning countywide. The Stage 2 burn ban goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, 2026.

“All outdoor burning is prohibited during this ban, including residential yard debris fires and recreational fires in fire pits until further notice,” the Fire Marshal said in a press release.

The upgraded burn ban is in conjunction with restrictions placed by the Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Forest Service, including banning campfires. Similar restrictions were ordered earlier this week by Sky Valley Fire and the Darrington Fire District.

This ban is expected to remain in effect until there has been a sustained period of rainfall or the fire risk is reduced, the Fire Marshal said.

The Fire Marshal issued a Stage 1 burn ban for the County on June 22, and in mid-July temporarily prohibited all fires in mountainous parts of the county that were then the focus of a Red Flag Warning.

All forecasts suggest the potential for wildfire will remain elevated into the fall. In addition to exercising caution, people are encouraged to take some key steps:

• Sign up for SnoCoAlerts, the county’s tool for sharing life-safety information right to your phone.

• Get to know Ready, Set, Go! the evacuation guidance first responders and emergency managers are now using in most Western Washington counties when wildfires and other hazards threaten.

• Bookmark the wildfire page on the Snohomish County Public Safety Hub – www.bit.ly/snocowildfire – to access real-time guidance and resources (including a link to sign up for SnoCoAlerts and details on Ready, Set, Go!)

This week our park rangers teamed up with Snohomish County Fire District 4 to rescue a crow that had been stuck upside down in a tree at Flowing Lake Park!

On Sunday morning, the crow was spotted hanging upside down from a tree about 50 feet up above one of the campsites and appeared to be stuck. The crow was still there cawing sometime later and couldn’t seem to get itself unstuck. Snohomish County Fire District 4 came out to help our park rangers and retrieved the crow from the tree! When they brought it down, it became clear that the crow was stuck in the tree because it had fishing line wrapped around its leg. The firefighters carefully removed the fishing line from its foot and our camp host has been helping nurse the crow back to its lively self. It has responded well to drinking water and eating scrambled eggs. The crow has been named Russell Crow, naturally. 🙂

Thank you to Snohomish County Fire District 4! This would not have been possible without them and the care they provided. And remember…please always clean up and throw away your used fishing line so we can prevent things like this from happening for our feathered friends.

UPDATE 8/10/26: We appreciate everyone's concern over the wellbeing of Russell Crow. It is our normal practice to bring an injured animal to PAWS. Unfortunately, this happened on a Sunday when they are not open. Throughout the incident our rangers were in touch with WDFW. We intended to bring it to PAWS on Monday morning. The crow was kept in a partially enclosed area with the top open so it could freely leave at any time. By Monday morning it had already returned to the wild.

Thanks to our park rangers who were out meeting the community yesterday at National Night Out! We had parks and fair staff out in Goldbar, Everett, Darrington, Arlington, Stanwood, Snohomish and Monroe! Did you stop by to say hi? 👋
