In the home, most fires start in the kitchen.
Cooking is the leading cause of residential fires, with unattended cooking being the most common factor. Pots left on the stove, overheated oil, and distractions while cooking can quickly lead to a fire.

Other common areas where home fires start include. Living rooms and bedrooms – from smoking materials, candles, or electrical issues.
Laundry rooms often due to dryer lint buildup.
Garages where fuels, batteries, and equipment may be stored. Utility rooms involving furnaces, water heaters, or electrical equipment. Be safe Snohomish and check your smoke detectors.

Snohomish, yesterday we gathered for our annual Awards Banquet. A special opportunity to recognize the dedication, professionalism, and service of the members of your Snohomish Fire Department.

Each year, we alternate between a formal and informal banquet, but the purpose remains the same celebrating the incredible people who serve this community every day.

We may not be the largest fire department, but there is no challenge too big for our firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and support personnel. Time and time again, they answer the call, support one another, and serve Snohomish with pride and commitment.

We might be a little biased, but we think our firefighters are pretty amazing. Congratulations to all of our award recipients, and thank you to every member of the department for the work you do each and every day.

Snohomish, did you know your Fire Department operates on a four-platoon system?

Our firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs are divided into A Shift, B Shift, C Shift, and D Shift, ensuring highly trained crews are ready to serve our community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Because emergency calls can come in at any moment, it’s rare to have an opportunity to gather an entire shift together. Between responding to emergencies, training, inspections, and serving the community, our crews are constantly on the move.

These photos is just a brief glimpse of some of the dedicated men and women who serve Snohomish. While they may only be together for a moment before the next call.

This morning, our lineup was ready for the parade, and what an amazing time it was with our community! There’s nothing quite like seeing friends, families, and neighbors come together to celebrate.

Yesterday, your Snohomish Fire Department assisted Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue with a structure fire following reports of a large boom heard in the area.

When Battalion 43 arrived on scene, crews found debris scattered across the roadway and received reports that a person may still be inside the structure. Firefighters from Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue quickly brought the fire under control and conducted a search for the person. The person was found but had passed.

Due to the extent of the damage, the structure became unstable, requiring crews to exit the building.

Emergency crews are currently on scene of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision, with reports indicating one vehicle may have struck a building.

Fire and EMS personnel are assessing the scene and providing care as needed. Motorists should expect delays and use caution when traveling through the area.

Please be aware of changing traffic conditions and consider alternate routes if possible.

In the midst of our moving craziness, we got to take a few minutes to celebrate another member of Snohomish County Fire District 4 today! (And have a little fun while we did it!)

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter EMT Jon Stewart on his promotion to Lieutenant Stewart!

Earning the rank of Lieutenant takes a lot of hard work, training, and dedication, and we are so proud to see Jon take this next step in his fire service career. We’re excited to have Lieutenant Stewart step into this new role and continue serving the Snohomish community.

Congratulations, Lieutenant Stewart! Well earned!

Phew… what a week!

We officially started the big move into the new fire station yesterday, and it has been busy to say the least. Even with all the moving pieces, our crews responded to 103 calls this week.

Along with emergency responses, some of our SCFD4 members participated in the Women in Fire event last weekend, hosted by South County Fire. A group of Snohomish firefighters also took part in a countywide training event hosted by North County Fire.

As we head into the weekend, the training continues with our quarterly rope drill for the SCFD4 Technical Rescue Rope Team. We’re also excited to participate in the Pride Parade tomorrow at 10 AM on First Street.

Have a great weekend, Snohomish, and stay safe! We'll see you around town!

Traffic Alert – Storm Lake Road. A vehicle has struck a utility pole in the 4100 block of Storm Lake Road, bringing down power lines. The roadway is currently closed while emergency crews respond and assess the scene.

Fire and EMS are en route. Please avoid the area, use alternate routes, and never approach downed power lines, as they may still be energized and extremely dangerous.

Updates will be provided as information becomes available. Please use caution and help keep the area clear for responding crews. Update: This is a non injury accident. The roadway is currently closed due to wires down.
