On August 27th, 2026, the Snow Hill Police Department responded to an alleged assault that resulted in the victim needing treatment at a local hospital. Due to the nature of the assault, the Snow Hill Police Department requested the assistance of the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation, which responded to Tidal Health Atlantic and interviewed our victim. Based on their investigation, a suspect was identified and has been placed under arrest for the assault. They are being held pending a court date.

Additional details may be released at a later time by the Criminal Bureau of Investigation.

Good afternoon, folks!

Today marks the beginning of the year for Worcester County Students. We hope all of our students have a safe and enjoyable year. As a reminder, please be on the lookout in the mornings and afternoons for children loading and unloading from their school bus. Please allow a little extra time in your commute for the next couple of weeks as both drivers and students get used to new pickup and drop-offs. We wish our School Administrators and Teachers and Staff a wonderful school year as well.

Good afternoon, Folks.

We have been notified by our local State Highway Administration that beginning Monday, August 10th, 2026, they will begin repaving Route 12 from Whiton Road to the Traffic Light on Market Street. This includes both sides of the drawbridge. As such, we will be placing cones along Washington Street from the drawbridge to the traffic light beginning Sunday, August 9th. Please plan accordingly next week and expect some delays as the milling project begins. This is a weather-dependent project. The project is expected to last all week and into the following week if needed.

On July 31st, 2026, the Snow Hill Police Department were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a bicycle at the intersection of Market Street and Washington Street. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male ,who was the lone operator of the bicycle and was being treated by bystanders. Due to the severity of the crash and injuries that were considered serious, the juvenile was treated by Snow Hill Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Company Inc and paramedics and ultimately was transported to a trauma center by the Maryland State Police Maryland State Police - Aviation Command for those injuries. The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately and was interviewed on scene.

Preliminary information from the scene and witnesses indicate that the juvenile was riding their bicycle into oncoming traffic and was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Market Street. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Cpl. Kenny Barnes at 410-632-2447

Good afternoon. As a reminder, this weekend brings the return of the "Blessing of the Combines" event. As such, we are asking that all vehicles be removed from Bank Street, Green Street, Willow Street, and Washington Street from the Drawbridge to Market Street. We will start placing barricades up tomorrow evening so please plan accordingly. The weather is looking fantastic, so we hope to see everyone out and about on Saturday.

Come out tomorrow and join the Snow Hill Snow Hill Area Chamber of Commerce for their annual RiverFest from 12pm-8pm. We will be closing all traffic on River Street beginning around 9a.m. Please plan accordingly.

If you plan a day on the river, please pay particular attention around Goat Island and the drawbridge as there will be many activities on the river throughout the day. We hope to see everyone out and about tomorrow.

Good Afternoon Folks
Friday's
The town is currently preparing for this Fridays First Friday event and the Snow Hill Area Chamber of Commerce Fireworks event. First Friday will begin at 5pm in the downtown area and will conclude at 9:30pm with a fantastic fireworks display. With these two events, there will be road closures downtown starting at 5pm. We are also aware that the temperatures are expected to be extreme, and proper hydration is encouraged. For those who choose to park on the drawbridge side to view the fireworks, we ask that you don't block any of the business driveways and do not double park on Route 12.

For those with outside pets, please make sure they are secure starting around 9pm and concluding around 945p.m

Byrd Park north boat ramp and access will be closed to the public beginning at 12 pm. Boaters may still use the south end boat ramp or Shad Landing. Maryland Department of Natural Resources - Natural Resources Police will be on site to monitor the boat traffic.

We hope to see everyone out and about this Friday.
