✨Spotlight Sunday✨

This week the spotlight is on Firefighter/EMT Chris Cothren (Will Chris to us at the department). Chris has been with Shavers Fork since 2022. Since joining he has become an indispensable member of our team!

Chris runs a business and still finds time to dedicate to us at Shavers Fork along with volunteering at Belington Volunteer Fire Department in his off time.

When Chris isn’t dedicating his time and effort to helping his communities he enjoys spending time with his two adorable daughters, golfing, skiing, talking about mold, and making sure everyone has a good laugh. We always look forward to the shift to customer service voice and our favorite catch phrase when his phone rings “Green Home Solutions this is Chris”

We’re thankful to have Chris as a part of our team and are so proud of his dedication to helping others.

We’d like to congratulate our newest EMTs: FF/EMT E. Chandler, FF/EMT J. Rexrode, and EMT C. Chamberlain. After months of class, and hard work they have successfully passed their National Registry.

We are forever proud of our members for always striving to gain more knowledge and be better prepared to serve our community!

✨SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY✨

This week the spotlight is on our GNCC crews!

These crews worked incredibly hard this weekend to ensure that everyone had a fun and exciting time during GNCC. Through the rain, fog, cold, and mud our crews stayed busy and positive. We’re very thankful for their continued commitment to Snowshoe and the surrounding areas!

✨SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY✨

This week the spotlight is on Firefighter/EMT Trevor Snyder.

Trevor came to Shavers Fork in fall of 2024. Trevor is an integral part of our team and is currently working hard on updating our preplans and working on new ones. Along with many fire certifications, Trevor brings a passion for the fire service you don’t often see. He is always up for training, learning, and practicing to become proficient in all things related to the job.

Trevor is currently working on becoming a paramedic with class set to finish next month! Trevor works hard to continue to grow as an EMS provider and we could not be more proud of him!

In Trevor’s down time he enjoys being dad to two adorable little girls, golfing, and playing farm simulator (while saying he needs to work on his paramedic homework). We’re very thankful to have Trevor and we’re very proud of his passion and dedication!

🚑 Shavers Fork Fire Rescue Spotlight Sunday 🚒

We’re excited to introduce a new feature on our page “Spotlight Sunday!” Each week, we’ll highlight one of the dedicated members who help keep our community safe and make Shavers Fork Fire Rescue what it is today.

Today, we are proud to spotlight EMS Lieutenant Hannah Crist.

Hannah joined Shavers Fork Fire Rescue in 2021 as a part-time Firefighter/Paramedic and transitioned to a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic in 2024. She currently serves as our EMS Lieutenant, where she plays a vital role in ensuring our department continues to grow and improve.

As EMS Lieutenant, Hannah oversees quality assurance, supply management, EMS license tracking, patient care record compliance, and perhaps her most challenging responsibility of all -keeping the Chief on task and making sure he cleans his office.

Hannah has a deep passion for training, firefighter health, and wellness. She continually works to raise department standards by encouraging physical fitness, mental wellness, and professional development among our personnel.

She is also an active member of the West Virginia EMS Coalition’s Mental Health Group, helping advocate for the well-being of first responders across the state.

Hannah holds numerous fire service certifications and is licensed as a Mobile Critical Care Paramedic. Most recently, she earned her Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C), a prestigious credential that demonstrates an exceptional level of knowledge and expertise in critical care medicine.

When she’s off duty, Hannah enjoys spending time with her family and her adorable 3 year old son, Grant, who loves visiting Mom at the station. Even when he can’t stop by, he remains the star of the show through his daily FaceTime calls with his honorary aunts and uncles at Shavers Fork. She also enjoys hiking and reminding the firefighters that a balanced diet includes more than just potatoes, pasta, and bread.

Thank you, Hannah, for your dedication, leadership, and commitment to the members of Shavers Fork Fire Rescue and the community we serve. Your passion for excellence, wellness, and patient care makes our department stronger every day, and we are proud to have you on our team.

Field Trip Friday

Today, our on-duty crew had the opportunity to assist Nature’s Mountain Classroom with their 3rd-grade students. Our crew talked with the students about what we do here at Shavers Fork Fire Rescue and the important role emergency services play in our community.

The students then got hands-on experience by creating their very own first aid kits, and our crew showed them how to properly bandage a wound using the supplies in their kits.

It was a fun and educational experience for everyone involved, and we enjoyed helping these young students learn valuable first aid skills. Thank you to Nature’s Mountain Classroom for having us!
