Please keep our brothers and sisters in Abilene in your prayers today as they lay one of their own to rest.

We are honored to send a couple of our firefighters to join several other departments in staffing the Abilene Fire Department units, so their firefighters can be together at the service and support one another during this difficult time.

We were truly blessed by the support we received when we lost one of our own, and we know the pain and heartbreak they are experiencing. Now it is our turn to pay it forward.

Please pray for the Abilene Fire Department and for the family of Firefighter Patterson as they navigate the days ahead.

God Bless,
Chief Hines

The Snyder Fire Department helped students kick off summer with a little water fun at the school this week.

We hope everyone has a safe and fun summer break.

Today, the Snyder Fire Department would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Air Life 39 for the thoughtful tea donation provided to our on-duty personnel in recognition of Firefighters Day. Your support and appreciation mean a great deal to our crews and help keep us going while we serve our community.

We also want to take a moment to recognize and thank all firefighters—past and present—for your dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting others. Your service does not go unnoticed.

Stay safe, and thank you to everyone who supports the fire service.

When the wind picks up, grass fires can spread faster than many people realize.

Dry grass acts as fuel. Strong winds push flames forward and can carry embers into new areas. That is why spring is an important time to stay aware of fire conditions.

Reducing dry vegetation and debris around structures lowers the overall risk.

This week, take a quick look around your property. Is there dead grass or brush that could be cleared? Small steps now can make a big difference later.

Public Appreciation Post

The City of Snyder, the City of Snyder/Scurry County Office of Emergency Management, and the Snyder Fire Department would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our entire community for the incredible hospitality you’ve shown this week.

To our local restaurants, hotels, and businesses, your generosity toward the All-Hazard Strike Team stationed here in Snyder has been outstanding. From donated meals and supplies to the simple kindness of checking in on them throughout the week, you’ve made these responders feel supported and appreciated.

We also want to recognize our citizens. Your warm welcomes, thoughtful gestures, and willingness to lend a hand truly made a difference. Entering an unfamiliar community during challenging situations doesn’t always come with open arms, but Snyder proved once again what sets this community apart.
You showed compassion, respect, and genuine care for those here to help.
Thank you for demonstrating what community looks like in action. Your support strengthens not only those who serve, but our entire region.

This afternoon, Snyder Fire Department responded to assist with a house fire in Colorado City, and we were joined by our neighboring departments from Loraine, Roscoe, and Westbrook.

Seeing multiple departments come together so quickly and work side‑by‑side is a powerful reminder of what makes our West Texas communities special. When someone is in need, we show up for one another without hesitation.

Our hearts and prayers are with the family who lost their home today.

Thank you to every firefighter and first responder who answered the call. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.
