Soap Lake, WA Chamber of Commerce Soap Lake, place of healing waters and abundant character, the human
kind: distinctive, memorable, extraordinary, a bit quirky, and never
boring.

From day one Soap Lake has embraced all comers; sick,
destitute, in need of healing, or just looking for a place to land. Whether arriving with money for a room, with or without a reservation,
maybe just hoping for a tent to rent or a spot in one of the camps
along the shore of the lake, Soap Lake bore arms wide open to
strangers throughout the early decades of the 20th century. For those who sink

their feet into the rough sand along the shore or
slather the sulphur-stinky black mud on their bellies and feast their
eyes on the rugged basalt landscape framing the pretty aquamarine
lake, maybe catching the sweet salt scent of the mineral water on a
warm summer night carried on a southbound breeze, or those that hear
with delight the playful chatter of killdeer along the shore –
something catches hold and never lets go. It hides in the bottom
drawer of vacation memories, in the spent quarry of the almost gone
days, not hiding – languishing like a water nymph that can only be
felt by the young-at-heart and the ones who distill memories from the
shape of clouds.

💔 It breaks our hearts to share that the 2026 Soap Lake Moonlight Paddle has been canceled

Due to the expected smoke and unfavorable weather conditions, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event

We know many of you were looking forward to a beautiful evening on the water beneath the moonlight, and we are deeply disappointed that we will not be able to gather together as planned

The health and safety of our paddlers, volunteers, and community must always come first. Thank you for your understanding, your support, and your enthusiasm for this special Soap Lake tradition

❤️ The best celebrations are the ones where everyone gets home safely.

After careful consideration due to ongoing fire safety concerns, the fireworks show will not take place during the remainder of the fire season.

The City is currently considering rescheduling the fireworks display to Saturday, December 5, 2026, immediately following Winterfest.

If the new date is confirmed, plenty of advance notice will be provided so families have time to plan and pet owners can safely care for animals that may be sensitive to fireworks.

We know many people were looking forward to the show, and we truly appreciate your understanding as safety remains our highest priority. We look forward to celebrating together under safer conditions this winter.

There have been many comments regarding the canceling of the Soap Box Derby. It is regrettable that there were not enough entrants to hold the event.
The Chamber is evaluating and reviewing ways to make this event more appealing. Some considerations are purchasing cars that are big enough for older kids, while possibly adults could construct their own car. There are also other races that could be added such as bed races or outhouse races to be part of a bigger event.
There would need to be a dedicated committee to plan and oversee the races, so that promotion would be ongoing throughout the year.
The Chamber would welcome any positive feedback and if you are interested in participating in events feel free to reach out.
