A Child's Voice Child Advocacy Center

A Child's Voice Child Advocacy Center Ensuring kids are heard, supported & protected after experiences of child abuse or witness to crime Our main focus at A Child's Voice is the child.

A Child's Voice, serving Walton and Newton counties, is a child advocacy center designed to meet the needs of children who are victims of abuse or who are witness to violence or crime. A Child's Voice is a facility supplied with state-of-the-art equipment that enables specially trained professionals to conduct effective, consistent, non-threatening forensic interviews and medical examinations of c

hildren who have made these allegations. We coordinate the utilization of multi-disciplinary team approach to the investigation, treatment, and prevention of child sexual abuse and physical abuse. As such, the environment is completely child-friendly and accessible. There is an area available for children to play, stocked with a variety of age appropriate toys and activities. The specially trained professional (forensic interviewers) conduct an interview with the child victim. Interviews are videotaped to avoid multiple interviews and preserves the statement for court purposes. Our center also conducts forensic medical examinations by qualified professionals. We also provide family support services, including making referrals to licensed therapists for counseling for children and their families. For victim support and referral information outside of regular business hours, call 470-467-2763. Please note, forensic interviews are scheduled by law enforcement and DFCS as part of ongoing criminal investigations. Please contact local law enforcement to report a crime and begin the process of interview scheduling. For emergency forensic medical care, you may call SANE, Inc. at 706-613-3808 ext. 4, or Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at 404-785-KIDS (5437).

Children don’t always know how to say what’s wrong—but their behavior can tell us a lot.
Watch for:
• Sudden behavior changes
• Withdrawal or fear
• Unexplained injuries
• Regression
These signs don’t always mean abuse—but they do mean it’s time to pay attention.
💙 Listening can change a child’s life.

When a child discloses abuse, the process can feel overwhelming—for both the child and their family.
A Child Advocacy Center (CAC) provides a safe, child-friendly space where children can:
• Share their story one time in a supportive environment
• Receive medical and mental health services
• Be supported by trained advocates
• Have their case coordinated by a team of professionals
This approach reduces trauma and helps children begin the path to healing.
💙 Every child deserves to be heard, believed, and supported.

Simple grounding technique for kids (and adults):
👉 Name 5 things you can see
👉 4 things you can feel
👉 3 things you can hear
👉 2 things you can smell
👉 1 thing you can taste
This can help calm the body and mind during overwhelming moments.
Save this for later 💚

Not sure how to talk to a child about their feelings?
Try this:
💬 “I’m here to listen.”
💬 “You’re not in trouble.”
💬 “Your feelings matter.”
Creating a safe, judgment-free space helps children open up when they’re ready.
