SEC Interim Chief Executive Officer Rauni Montoya and Chief Operations Officer Jason Otero are poised to return in the last week of August after successfully completing Part 1, Weeks 1 and 2 of the NRECA Management Intern Program, a prestigious four-week leadership experience in Madison, Wisconsin.
What is MIP?
For over 55 years, the Management Internship Program has served as the foundation for how electric cooperatives invest in their future senior leaders, earning its reputation as one of the most respected leadership development programs in the industry.
MIP is specifically designed for managers, directors, and vice presidents at electric cooperatives who are ready to think and operate at the executive level.
Over four weeks of intensive in-person programming, participants enhance their strategic, financial, operational, and interpersonal skills—essential qualities for influential cooperative leadership—while building professional relationships with peers from co-ops across the country that will last long after the program concludes.
The curriculum addresses contemporary challenges and opportunities, taught by experienced practitioners, making the experience truly unique in the industry (NRECA 2026).
Rauni graduated from Socorro High School, earned a Bachelor’s degree in General Business with a minor in Marketing in 2013, and has made significant contributions (19 years) across multiple departments at SEC.
Jason graduated from Magdalena High School and holds a Journeyman Lineman Certificate and has extensive experience (26 years) in all aspects of the Journeyman Lineman career field, including roles as Lineman, Foreman, Line Superintendent, and Chief Operations Officer.
