Soda Springs Police Department has recently observed several children riding electric two-wheelers to and from school. We want to make sure students and parents understand the difference between a legal e-bike and an electric motorcycle, and the laws that may apply to each. Please take a moment to review the information below and know what your child is riding. We encourage all riders to wear proper safety helmets while riding.
Our goal is education, safety, and keeping our students and community safe!

Soda Springs Police Department will participate in a statewide Labor Day impaired‑driving mobilization from August 19 through September 7, 2026. The enforcement period is part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, coordinated in Idaho by the Office of Highway Safety.

During the mobilization, Soda Springs Police will increase patrols and focus on identifying drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Impaired driving remains a leading factor in serious crashes statewide, especially during holiday weekends.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, designate a sober driver, use a ride‑share service, or find another safe way home. Those who see an impaired driver on the road should call 911 when it is safe to do so.

For more information on impaired‑driving prevention, visit shift‑idaho.org.

Celebrate Safely This Fourth of July! 🇺🇸

As we approach Independence Day, the Soda Springs Police Department wants to remind everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.

The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a professional display. This year, the Rotary Club of Soda Springs is sponsoring a community fireworks show that can be viewed from the LDS Stake Center and Caribou Memorial Hospital parking areas.

Be sure to check out the Rotary Club of Soda Springs and the City of Soda Springs pages for additional information on Fourth of July events.

If you choose to use fireworks at home, please follow these basic safety tips:

🎆 Use fireworks only on hard, clear surfaces such as asphalt or concrete.
🎆 Stay well away from homes, vehicles, dry grass, brush, and other flammable materials.
🎆 Keep a garden hose, bucket of water, or fire extinguisher nearby.
🎆 Read and follow all instructions, and maintain a safe distance after lighting.
🎆 Never allow children to handle fireworks without close adult supervision.
🎆 Use only legal fireworks. Aerial fireworks and other prohibited fireworks are illegal and can result in criminal charges—not exactly the kind of bang you want to end your holiday with.

Have a fun, safe, and memorable Fourth of July, and thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe!

Happy Independence Day!

As Idahoans prepare to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, the Soda Springs Police Department is teaming up with the Idaho Transportation Department’s Office of Highway Safety and other law enforcement agencies across the state to prevent impaired driving. From June 28 to July 5, law enforcement officers will dedicate resources to stop drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

This 4th of July enforcement and education campaign aligns with Idaho’s America 250 initiative, which emphasizes that nothing is more patriotic than taking care of the people who live, work, and travel in your own community.

Soda Springs Police Department encourages all Idahoans to plan ahead, choose a designated driver, and thank them for stepping up to make sure everyone gets home safely.
