Soddy-Daisy Community Library

Soddy-Daisy Community Library Elevating the 37379, and beyond! All are welcome. We have designated the SDCL as a safe space.

Mission Statement:

The mission of KELCURT Foundation is to elevate community spirit and guide individuals and families into self-sustaining practices, helping to eliminate food insecurities and improve overall well-being utilizing the arts, sciences, education, music and literature. Vision Statement:

The KELCURT Foundation envisions a future where everyone shares knowledge, personal talents, lif

e experiences and resources through equitable access to food security, the arts and education, to elevate the lives and well-being of all. Non-Discrimination Policy:

The KELCURT Foundation / Soddy-Daisy Community Library does not discriminate against anyone for any reason. We have created a place where our patrons, no matter where they are in their human journey, can feel comfortable and respected. Values Statement:

The KELCURT Foundation’s culture is driven by integrity, empathy, and the desire to elevate individuals, families, and organizations to improve society as a whole. Community - We perceive the word community as a verb, an active coming together of persons with diverse backgrounds and ideas working together for a more dynamic future. Education - More than just learning the basics of reading, writing, and math, education is an ongoing process that brings body, mind, and spirit to higher levels. A full education incorporates the arts, sciences, life experiences, and the soft skills necessary for healthy interpersonal relationships. Food Sustainability - We believe that no one should ever have to go hungry. For those seeking food security, we will equip them with the informational tools to become self-sustaining. Needs Response - As the old saying goes, “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.” We believe that needs within the community should be sought out and addressed with action in a prompt manner. Stewardship - We believe that everyone has something to give, and that everyone has a responsibility to share those talents, abilities, and gifts to enhance the lives around them. Furthermore, we endeavor to provide opportunities for all to utilize their talents, abilities, and gifts in the elevation of others. Stewardship extends beyond human beings to encompass the earth and all of her residents and systems. Discrimination Policy - The KELCURT Foundation / Soddy-Daisy Community Library does not discriminate against anyone for any reason. At the KELCURT Foundation, all of these values were the inspiration at our inception, and are the daily motivation for our ongoing work.

We anticipate 3,000 guests to the EEK, giving you a great audience to promote your wares or business. Cost is only $50.

We are only accepting one vendor per type of product (1 crochet animal vendor, 1 street taco vendor, etc), so you can corner your market.

Our Read to a Dog program is back! It is an opportunity for kids to read to dogs - no judgment, no corrections, just unconditional love and attention. We'll be starting off with one dog, but can increase it if the demand is there.

This program will take place on the first and third Tuesday of each month between 4pm and 5pm, and each child may only sign up once per month to ensure that as many children as possible have this opportunity.

- Reservations are required. You can either stop in at the SDCL or call to reserve a 20-minute time slot for your child to practice reading to a furry friend.
- Since we will be closed the first Tuesday of September, we'll begin on the 15th. Sign-up is now open.
- Parent(s) must remain in the building (this is not a drop-off activity), but must let the child read on their own with the dog.
- Please arrive a few minutes early and have something to read. If you arrive late, it will shorten your session.
- Please make sure your child understands that this is not a 20-minute petting session; they are expected to read to the dog (but petting while reading is a wonderful thing!)
- You must be a patron in good standing to participate (no late/lost fees or overdue books)
- If you do not come for your session without cancelling by noon the same day, you will not be allowed to sign up for one month

This program would not be possible without our amazing partners - 2-legged and 4-legged - from Love On A Leash Scenic City Therapy Pets . They are doing this program for free, so please respect the dogs and the humans they own!

Sometimes, we all need a little extra help. 💛

If you, your family, or someone you know could use a little help putting food on the table, please stop by the Soddy-Daisy Community Library Pantry. You don't need to be a library member, and there's no reason to feel uncomfortable asking. If we have it and you need it, we're happy to help.

Our pantry is available for in-person pickup at the library during our regular hours. While we're happy to help when you visit us, we're unable to deliver pantry items.

We're not a full-service food bank, so our pantry is meant to help with a meal or get you through a day or two. If you need more ongoing food assistance, we can also help connect you with local organizations that can provide additional support.

And don't forget about our Kit Program! We provide free feminine hygiene products to anyone who needs them—just ask. 💗

This community is our family, and families look out for one another. Y'all have taken care of us in so many ways over the years, and we're grateful to be able to take care of you, too. 💛
