havent been on facebook for a few days...have been busy with booking trips for this summer . It is against the law in Alaska to take someone to a stream or mine to teach prospecting and after three years I managed to get a permit from the United States Forest Service to take people out on a wild stream to prospect for gold...there is no way to get to this stream by land and so we get there by approx one hour raft trp on the Kenai river to the confluence of the stream ...we then hike into the wilderness approx half mile to where I have buckets shovels sluice boxes gold pans classifiers etc and you get to pick your tools and prospect ...this is pristine creek and there is no groomed trail...I tend to walk along bear and moose trails and use stream beds etc so that we minimize the human footprint and keep the area pristine so that you get the feeling you are back in 1800's I provide lunch and snacks and a vial to put your finds in and I have never had anyone not find some color on this trip...last year we had one nugget found about three quarter gram...really nice......approx five hours later we board rafts again and it takes about two hour raft trip through Kenai Wildlife refuge to get to waiting vans to get back to starting point...This is only trip of its sort that is primitive and wild and completely undeveloped trip...It is amazing how many people are prebooking and actually have a lot of days solid booked...we go everyday rain or shine and we furnish all the licensed guides rafts hip high boots rain gear and coast guard approved life vest..Unless illness or unforseen emergency I personally am your guide on the prospecting segment of the trip...so if you come to Alaska and want to meet Prospector John ...this is where you will find me..The trip is relatively inexpensive considering it is a full eight plus hours with lunch and a real authentic wild stream prospectiing adventure...I will be posting some pics of the trip and making additional comments and posts ..hope everyone finds color in all their prospecting adventures...
