Frontier Community Services

Frontier Community Services Empowering individuals with disabilities to live the life they choose with the supports they direct.

Frontier Community Services is dedicated to helping people stay in their home and to remain active in their community. Originally founded by a group of parents who wanted more for their children with disabilities than sitting at home in front of the TV, Frontier Community Services has developed programs for individuals of all ages. We provide a full array of services throughout a person's life spa

n. We believe that people with disabilities can and should be valued members of their community and we strive to make this a reality for every individual we serve.

🎉 Happy 1-Year Anniversary, Erika Baxter! 🎉

Today we're celebrating Erika and her first year with Frontier Community Services.

As a Direct Support Professional, Erika works one-on-one supporting an individual in the community, helping make everyday experiences, adventures, and opportunities possible. Over the past year, she has built a strong relationship with the person she supports and has become a dependable, encouraging presence in their life.

Erika brings patience, dedication, and a good sense of humor to her work each day. She understands that some of the most important parts of the job aren't found on a checklist—they're found in the connections we build and the lives we impact along the way.

We're grateful that Erika chose to spend the last year making a difference with Frontier.

Thank you, Erika, for your hard work, commitment, and the positive impact you have on the person you support. Congratulations on your first anniversary!

🌟 Did You Know? You Can Self-Direct Your Disability Services! 🌟

What is Self-Direction?

Self-direction gives individuals with disabilities and their families more choice and control over their supports and services. Instead of relying solely on an agency to manage services, you can play an active role in choosing who provides support, when services occur, and how they help you achieve your goals.

âś… Choose your support workers
âś… Create a schedule that fits your life
âś… Direct services based on your needs and preferences
âś… Build a team that works for you and your family

Self-direction is designed to put the individual at the center of decision-making and create supports that reflect what matters most to them.

Spending time in the summer sun and making memories along the way đź’š

Jordan and Cheryl have been enjoying some of the best parts of an Alaska summer—exploring, laughing, and spending time together.

Whether it's trying something new, getting outdoors, or simply enjoying a beautiful day, these moments help build confidence, connection, and independence.

Sometimes the best days are the ones filled with fresh air, good company, and a few laughs along the way.

We’re out here doing the work, building connections, and helping people find real opportunities in our community. Employment services are not one-size-fits-all. Sometimes it starts with a conversation, sometimes it starts with a job lead, and sometimes it starts with someone finally believing work can be possible again.

If you’re an employer on the Kenai Peninsula with flexible, part-time, hands-on, or entry-level opportunities, we’d love to connect. You might be exactly who someone is looking for.

Join us along with Access Alaska, Inc. for the Anchorage Self-Directed Community Forum as we explore how self-directed services could create more choice, flexibility, and independence for Alaskans. Self-direction allows participants to have greater control over the supports they receive, who provides those supports, and how and when services are delivered. We want to hear directly from the people most impacted as we consider bringing more self-directed service options to Alaska.

The forum will feature two separate sessions designed for different audiences:

Families and Self-Advocates (2:00–4:00 PM): Individuals with disabilities, elders, family members, and supporters are invited to share their experiences, needs, and ideas about what self-directed services could look like in Alaska.

Providers and Care Coordinators (5:00–6:30 PM): Service providers, care coordinators, and professionals are encouraged to join the conversation about opportunities, challenges, and how self-direction could support person-centered care across Alaska.
Your feedback will help shape the future of self-directed services in our state!
