Proud to have championed bringing two Air Purifiers to the City of Soledad - Government making the Soledad Community Center a Clean Air Center! This is an important investment in public health, emergency preparedness, and community resilience. Thank you to the partnership with Breathe California, Monterey County Air Resources District, California Air Pollution Office Association, and California Air Resources Board.

Thank you to our community, city team and Transportation Agency for Monterey County for helping to bring solutions and funding to make our streets safer. We have Safe Routes to School projects coming soon and the city will be submitting a grant application in June for a citywide street safety initiative. Awards will be announced in December. I heard many of your safety concerns and your voice at these community meetings are important! Together we can create a safer City of Soledad - Government!

Congratulations to all the incredible local women, moms, and trailblazers who completed this 6-week computer course! It was inspiring to hear their stories last night, from the fear and uncertainty they felt at the beginning to the confidence and empowerment they now carry.

Technology is such an important tool in today’s world, and this program is helping open new doors and opportunities to better their lives, support their families, and pursue their goals.

Thank you to MILPA for providing this amazing opportunity and investing in our community. Each participant also received a free computer to continue building their skills at home! We are excited that more classes are planned for the future so even more residents can benefit from this life-changing program.

Today, as we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, may we also pause to remember the true meaning of this day, honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Listening to the words of our Soledad Police Chief today was a powerful reminder that freedom is never free. Countless service members made the ultimate sacrifice, and their families continue to carry that loss each and every day. As the Chief shared, these heroes never had the opportunity to take the uniform off and come home to retirement. Their service and sacrifice became their legacy.

Today, we honor their courage, remember their sacrifice, and express our deepest gratitude to all of our fallen heroes and the families who loved them. May we never forget the cost of the freedoms we are privileged to enjoy.

TGIF! Career Day at Gabilan Elementary School today! It was great to talk to students about my role as Mayor of City of Soledad - Government and my career in government working as District Director for State Senator Anna Caballero.

I want every student to know that they have the power and potential to become our next Mayors, Assemblymembers and Senators. Representation matters, and investing in our youth today helps shape a stronger future for tomorrow.

Today, we honored the life and service of U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Carl F. Abbott, who was born in Soledad on July 8, 1907 and lived in Salinas.

It was a privilege to attend his service and pay tribute to a fallen hero who has finally come home to rest in peace with his loved ones.

As we prepare to celebrate Memorial Day, let us remember this moment and reflect on the sacrifices made by brave men and women like Staff Sgt. Abbott, who gave so much in service to our country and our freedoms.

Rest in peace, Staff Sgt. Carl F. Abbott. Thank you for your sacrifice, your courage, and your service to our nation. 🇺🇸
