Homicide Victim Identified

The Soledad Police Department confirms the victim involved in this incident has been identified as Miguel Godoy, 29-year-old male from King City, California. Family notifications have been made.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Soledad Police Department at (831) 223-5120. Individuals wishing to remain anonymous may provide information through the WeTip Hotline at 1-800-782-7463.

Join us for the Reuse, Recycling and Cleanup Day on Saturday, May 30th from 8am to 1pm ( or until boxes full) at Soledad High School’s Gabilan Drive Parking Lot. There will also be a free compost giveaway so please bring a shovel and a container to collect your free compost.

SCAR will have a fundraiser at the same time. You can bring your donations to the clean up event or you can drop off SCAR donations on May 30th and 31st from 9am to 3pm at California Gourmet Pizza yourself.

Today, the City of Soledad proudly announced the opening of the region’s first Clean Air Center at the Soledad Community Center.

As California continues to face increasingly severe wildfire seasons and dangerous smoke events, this new Clean Air Center will provide residents with a safe indoor space equipped with enhanced air filtration during periods of unhealthy air quality.

Soledad is proud to lead the region in expanding access to clean air resources and protecting the health and well-being of our community, especially seniors, children, and individuals with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions who are most vulnerable during wildfire smoke events.

This important investment was made possible through partnerships with Breath California, Monterey Bay Air Resources District (MBARD), CAPCOA, and the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

Hoy, la Ciudad de Soledad anunció con orgullo la apertura del primer Centro de Aire Limpio de la región en el Centro Comunitario de Soledad.

Mientras California continúa enfrentando temporadas de incendios forestales cada vez más severas y peligrosos eventos de humo, este nuevo Centro de Aire Limpio brindará a los residentes un espacio interior seguro equipado con filtración de aire mejorada durante períodos de mala calidad del aire.

Soledad se enorgullece de liderar la región en la expansión del acceso a recursos de aire limpio y en la protección de la salud y el bienestar de nuestra comunidad, especialmente de adultos mayores, niños y personas con enfermedades respiratorias o cardiovasculares, quienes son los más vulnerables durante los eventos de humo por incendios forestales.

Esta importante inversión fue posible gracias a las alianzas con Breath California, el Distrito de Recursos del Aire de la Bahía de Monterey (MBARD), CAPCOA y la Junta de Recursos del Aire de California (CARB).

At their May 20 meeting, the Soledad City Council proudly recognized Soledad Migrant Education students who competed and won at the 15th Annual Migrant Speech and Debate Tournament held on March 7. The Council also honored their coach for the dedication, guidance, and encouragement that helped our students shine.

We are incredibly proud of our students for representing Soledad with confidence, talent, and perseverance. Their hard work and achievements continue to inspire our community. Congratulations to all!

En su reunión del 20 de mayo, el Concejo Municipal de Soledad reconoció con orgullo a los estudiantes del programa de Educación Migrante de Soledad que participaron y ganaron en el 15.º Torneo Anual de Oratoria y Debate Migrante, celebrado el 7 de marzo.
