September is National and by a new proclamation by Governor Janet Mills (read the proclamation at https://www.maine.gov/governor/mills/official_documents/proclamations/2025-08-library-card-sign-month-september ), it's officially Maine Library Card Sign-Up Month!
To celebrate this honor, Maine's libraries are partnering with Maine's state parks: on September 20th, show your library card at most of Maine's state parks and get free admission from 9 AM to closing. Don't have a library card? Get one today at your local library! Thanks to Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry for making this partnership possible.
To find your nearest library, go to www.maine.gov/msl/libs/directories/public.shtml

Free admission does not apply to Acadia National Park, Allagash Wilderness Waterway, Baxter State Park, Maine Wildlife Park, Peacock Beach, Scarborough Beach, Swan Island, the Penobscot River Corridor, or the Penobscot Narrows Observatory. Admission to Fort Knox State Historic Site is included.
