🌈 Celebrate Pride in Solvang this Saturday! 🌈

The City of Solvang is proud to welcome the SYV Pride Parade & Festival to downtown Solvang on Saturday, June 13.

Join the community for a colorful, family-friendly celebration filled with music, food, vendors, activities, and plenty of Pride spirit. The parade will travel through downtown Solvang, followed by festivities in and around Solvang Park.

⏰ Parade begins at 11:00 AM; festival follows from 12:00–4:00 PM

🌿 Introducing the Solvang "Den Gylden Have" Award (The Golden Garden) 🌿
Hello everyone!
For those who may not know me, my name is Jennifer, and I am the Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Solvang.
I am excited to announce a new community program that celebrates something we can all take pride in—our beautiful yards and neighborhoods!
The Solvang "Den Gylden Have" Award (The Golden Garden) will be held twice each year and is designed to recognize residents who go above and beyond in maintaining and enhancing their properties. Whether it's a stunning landscape, a water-wise garden, or a property that demonstrates exceptional fire safety practices, we want to celebrate your efforts.
🏡 Residents may nominate themselves or a neighbor in one of three categories:
🌸 Most Beautiful – Recognizing outstanding curb appeal, landscaping, and overall visual beauty.
💧 Most Drought Tolerant – Highlighting water-wise landscaping and sustainable gardening practices.
🔥 Exceptional Example of Defensible Space – Recognizing landscapes that help protect homes from wildfire while contributing to the safety and beauty of our community.
When reviewing nominations, we will consider factors such as overall appearance, property maintenance, water conservation efforts, and defensible space practices.
🏆 Winners in each category will receive:
• A commemorative certificate
• A special yard sign
• Recognition in the City newsletter
• Recognition on City social media platforms
📅 Spring nominations are due by June 30, and winners will be announced at an upcoming City Council meeting.
The goal of this program is simple: to encourage community pride, promote responsible landscaping, and recognize the residents who help make Solvang such a special place to live.
Code Enforcement isn't just about addressing problems—it's also about encouraging positive examples and celebrating the people who make our community shine.
