Dear SAM Supporter,

We hope this letter finds you healthy and safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As we navigate through this new normal, Solvang School and the Solvang Arts & Music Foundation remain dedicated to providing a superior level of Arts and Music curriculum for our students.

Like so many events, the annual Boots & Bling Fundraiser scheduled for October 17th, has been cancelled. This event alone raises nearly 50% of the funds needed to provide the Arts & Music programs at the school. In lieu of a fabulous party, dinner and auction we ask for your help by donating what you would anticipate spending at the event as a donation to SAM, which goes directly towards the cost of the Arts & Music programs.

The 2020-21 school year is off to a positive start as teachers, students and parents adjust to distance learning. We are proud of our administration and teachers for maintaining such a high level of classes during this challenging time.

Arts & Music Programs being offered during distance learning:
TK-3rd Grade: Music twice per week
4th-5th Grade: Band with recorder and ukulele once per week
Music once per week
Art once per week
6th Grade: Band and/or Art twice per week
7th-8th Grade: Choice of electives from Drama, Beginning & Advanced Band, Art & Community Art varying between 2 to 4 times per week
Once on-campus classes resume, dance will be offered for grades 3-8.

SAM’s other main fundraising efforts include After School Academy and the Show of Shows, which we are optimistic will happen during this school year but cannot guarantee. Without these three major fundraising sources, the fate of the arts and music programs at Solvang School are in your hands.

Please help us assure that during these uncertain times our children will have the stability and creative outlet of these important programs. Individuals and businesses who donate $1,000+ will be recognized in print and social media, SAM’s website and printed materials for school performances and posters.
