Each year SYSO awards two (2) $1,000 scholarships to Somers High School graduating seniors.

Minimum Scholarship requirements are as follows:
• Participated in 5 years of SYSO administered sports
• Play a Somers High School Varsity Sport
• Submit an essay of not more than 300 words explaining the impact that SYSO sports made on your appreciation for sports and the understanding of life values throughout your years growing up in Somers.

Dear SYSO Community,

On March 24th, SYSO will hold an election to fill two open positions on the Executive Board (EB). We are seeking dedicated candidates for a two-year term to help oversee and strengthen our 12 sports programs, including Baseball, Basketball, Cheer, Field Hockey, Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball and Wrestling.

Candidate Requirements

Per SYSO Bylaws, candidates must:
1. Be a SYSO member for at least six months
2. Have served as a SYSO volunteer (on or off
the field) for at least two years
3. Comply with SYSO’s conflict of interest
policy

Candidates should also be prepared to dedicate the necessary time and energy to serve the SYSO community and its young athletes.

How to Apply:
If interested, email [email protected] by March 17th. A brief, informal interview will follow to assess candidates’ strengths and interests. The Election Committee will then present the final slate to the SYSO Board before the vote. At the election meeting, candidates can introduce themselves before voting takes place. The two candidates with the most votes will join the EB, which will later assign specific roles internally.
