Hey, what a great day we had Saturday, the 17th at Rhinoceros Creek Reservation NE.
Led by Troop Leaders Megan Richardson and Erika Murphy and organizer Samantha Miller, the girls of Troop 2630 came to the park and planted a perennial pollinator garden on the north side of the field across from the Gerard Crane "Stone" House. A terrific selection of plants was provided by Hilltop Hanover Farm and planted lovingly by the scouts as well as some other parents and family members participating. Bob and Ed were there of course to help plant and guide the planting locations.
Looks pretty plain right now as everything is in its dormant season, but wow, we are looking forward to a blaze of color come next Spring!

The same radar that tracks storms for your forecast also picks up birds. A project called BirdCast, run by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and university partners, turns those blips into a live count.

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026 is World Rhino Day.
Our friend Randy Rhino dropped by the park to say "Hi" and to let everyone know that the Rhinoceros is still a very at-risk endangered species.

Congratulations to Christopher Alexander of Troop 173 on completion of his Eagle Scout project. We now have a beautiful new information kiosk at the Route 202/Old Croton Falls Road entrance to the northeast Rhinoceros Creek Reserve property. Thank you Christopher!

Hooray! The new bridge construction that closed 202 near Fireman's Field is done!!
Now those of us trying to get to Rhinoceros Creek from the west side of town don't have to take the Plumbrook or Le Fontane detour anymore...
