Somers Democrats (NY)

Somers Democrats (NY) The Somers Democratic Club promotes Democratic candidates & increases public awareness of issues Its job is more social and civic minded.

This is the official page for the The Somers Democratic Club, a social club that promotes Democratic candidates for political office, offers scholarships, dinners, increases public awareness of key policy issues that impact on their lives. The Club is independent and autonomous from the Somers Democratic Town Committee, although those two bodies work synergistically together to raise the Democrati

c profile in Somers. The Somers Democratic Town Committee endorses candidates, and the Somers Democratic Club supports those candidates. This is stated in the Club’s constitution so that there can be no split in the Somers Democratic Party. Since 1988, the mission of the Somers Democratic Club has been to encourage Democratic participation in the civic affairs in Somers, to support Democratic values and to nurture social interaction among Somers Democrats. For example, the Club sponsors five annual scholarships. The award is based on community involvement and scholarship, and not on partisan bases. The Club sponsors public issues forums. The Club hosts a June awards dinner honoring outstanding Democrats and gives a non-partisan Community Appreciation Award to a deserving person or organization. The Club sponsors town and civic organizations events. The Club distributes via e-mail the SDC News Flash to registered Democrats in Somers.

REASONS TO VOTE FOR BETH DAVIDSON FOR CONGRESS:
Most electable, most qualified and proven legislative track record

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

In the upcoming Democratic Primary for NY-17 on June 23rd with early voting June 13th – June 21 (see below early voting dates and times at the Somers Town Hall) the Somers Democratic Town Committee and I as Chairwoman unanimously endorse Rockland County Legislator Beth Davidson for Congress.

Rockland County represents nearly 40% of the electorate in both the primary and general elections, making it the most competitive part of NY-17. She’s the only Democratic primary candidate who is an elected county legislator and has run repeated, successful campaigns against Republicans, literally in Lawler‘s backyard. During her last election, she garnered over half the vote and helped flip the Rockland County legislature into a Democratic supermajority, which is why she’s been endorsed by the Rockland Democratic Party. In addition, Davidson is currently demonstrating both her legislative expertise with her work to pass a bill in Rockland limiting cooperation with ICE, along with recent political efforts regarding Indian Point and gas affordability. This makes Rockland County legislator Beth Davidson the candidate most qualified to defeat incumbent Republican Rep. Lawler. Instead of just talking about “fighting back,” Davidson is actually doing so.

Sincerely,

Christine Robbins, Chairwoman
Somers Democratic Town Committee
